New AI Asset Generation now in Cosmos

Hi all!

Was not on the Corona Roadmaps, since it is inside Cosmos specifically - but it works with Corona and we’ve been doing tests etc. to check the quality of the output  This is an example of one of the things we knew Corona users were likely going to see, but didn’t add to the roadmap until things were certain!

First - Update Cosmos to the latest version. It was just released within the last few hours.

Second - to see the new feature, click the Chaos Cosmos icon in the top left of Cosmos, to get back to the home page of Cosmos (as if you are like me, you are most likely inside “3D Models” or “Materials” on opening the Cosmos window lol).

Then click the big generate:

This will take you into the “business end” of the Generator, as seen below:

The big area with the cube is where the preview will be shown. You need to give it a reference image for it to do its thing, highlighted in red - it says drag and drop, but this IS in Beta  That doesn’t work, for me at least, but just click on that area instead to open a file selector and choose your reference image.

There is a Settings dropdown below that where you can adjust things like polycount, texture resolution, etc. Once done, hit Generate.

First time around it will ask you to agree to some terms that apply to the Asset Generation, and once accepted it will get to work. You will see the preview area shows “in queue” and “Generating”. The Cancel button will also turn red while its working so you can Cancel if required.

Once done you can download the model and give it a name. A chance to import it will show briefly in the bottom right, or you can wait until later and go to “3D Models” and “Downloaded” to find it at any time later.

It will come into the scene at a very small scale  Again! Beta! But enlarge it as usual, and it should all be working fine after that! It imports as a Proxy, in Mesh Mode. Due to the way generation works, if you duplicate to Mesh, you will not be able to change that Mesh to Poly (it will “explode” in interesting ways  ), and editing the Mesh is not easily possible as polys in the Mesh may well have jagged edges, etc.

This is Beta - so we would love for you to try it out, and then let us know what works, what you would like t o see added, what could be done better, and so on! We’ll set up a thread outside of the Announcements for all of us to post (and I’ll duplicate these instructions there  )

Happy Generating!

PS - completely free to use in Beta, so please try it out, and let us know your thoughts in the threads below:
