This one is going to be watercolorish, however, here they are so far out of V-Ray.
Great render times. 4K with trees, grass, gravel, displacement, and reflections on everything in 4 hrs.
I don’t think the wet asphalt works in any of those houses.
there is something with the mood of the scene that is not working as well
I would agree on the wet road. So far, house 2 is the only one you see the road on (on these set of proofs), so I’ll probably change the road. Currently, I am rendering out 3, which the road doesn’t show. The end deliverable on these is a watercolor filter, so I can’t have dark shadows; I’m using an HDRI with little contrast .
I am going to rethink this… Maybe, I’ll add a V-Ray Sun and lighten up the shadows, in post, for the watercolor. This way, the client gets what she wants and I can use it for my portfolio, too. Updates to come.
The asphalt doesn’t look realistic maybe is why… Too many spots of water and very well defined.
I really like what you have done before for your exteriors but these ones are weird looking… Very CG in my opinion.
I’m reworking them, so I’ll post updates later today.
Roof textures are very Flat Bobby…maybe some displacement would help??
they do have displacement ![]()
Although these are not Photo-real, I used V-Ray, and I am very pleased with things. I had two previous projects, both done in V-Ray, but both were started in an earlier version and upgraded to the latest, mid-stream. This project, I had anticipated long render times, however, the render times were outstanding. The two previous projects did not render nearly as fast as I was hearing on line; this project rendered in record times. The scene consists of 10 house, all with displacements, several Forest Pro elements, and DOF on every camera view (probably a waste of render time for these). Each still 1920 x 1080, rendered in about 35-45 minutes and 4K was 2-3 hours. For the finals, since they were going to be watercolor’ish, I only rendered them at 1920 x 1080 and doubled the size in Perfect Resize 9. I used a watercolor filter and a Pencil filter (the above images are prior to adding a pencil filter over the watercolor) inside FotoSketcher. The V-Ray setting were pretty much out-of-the -box. I changed it to adaptive and turned on GI.
Love them! You’re a machine.
Awesome, thanks!
It’s going to be one of those jobs. I just got an email about them not being happy with the image. It was one of the rush jobs that they needed in a week; they needed to “hit the ground running February 1st”. I sent then proofs on Thursday, which didn’t get a reply and I followed up Friday, with no reply. So, my hands are tied, do I make their deadline making assumptions, or do I just wait until I get feedback? They say that getting it right is more important than a deadline. Okay, but what about my schedule??? Ugh! The imaged they got is exactly the example I showed them.
I like them!!! the client is not always right
The only thing I can dare to guess is that these later examples gives more of a water paint feel, whereas the ones in this thread is more like oil. The new ones are more spotty somehow. Especially the center one in post 19 looks like aquarelle.
