Users (and myself) have been opening Max only to find the Vray plugin missing (unloaded). I open the plugin.ini to find that the lines contain the Vray reference is missing. I reinstall Vray and it recreates the ini with the Vray entries and it works fine…for a while…then it happens again…over and over.
Ive come to write a .bat file thats included in our login that overwrites it each time they login (or I can run manually) and I have made the file read only for some. Making it read only seems to work but making that change on 100+ machines is difficult and awkward with tight user permissions.
Any idea why this happens? I was hoping it would go away with 2009 but it hasn’t.
Thanks (Eric?)! Did that along time ago. I suppose I will have to find a way to make the plugin.ini read only on all machines but it wont be easy..very much wondering the cause..
you can start 3dsmax using commandline loading a user defined pluin.ini
dont have the exact command in mind but something like
3dsmax.exe -c //192../plugin.ini should be the command
