Hello everyone! Happy Holidays!
I am having an issue with trying to produce a VR Stereo 12:1 image and I have a picture of a world map on the wall as a decal but it doesn’t show up in my rendering. Anyone know how to get my decal to show up?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Jeff,
We don’t support decals yet. You can create either a vrmat or a standard Revit material and scale the map so that it fits to the decal picture size.
Note that if you have placed the decal directly on a wall, after removing it you’ll need to create a rectangular geometry and assign the material to it.
Happy Holidays!
Thanks for the reply Ana!
I tried creating a Revit material with the image (its a map of the world) and got it lined up where it needed to be so that when I look at it in ‘realistic’ visual style it shows correctly. However, when I render an image it just shows as black. Is this because the AutoGen can’t translate the image to a VRay material? If so, how do I create a VRay material from an image?
AutoGen translates all Revit materials, there shouldn’t be any black surfaces etc.
Have you deleted the decal prior to assigning the Revit material?
If you want, we can make a quick remote session, so that you can show me what’s wrong.
I tried rendering it once more and it didn’t show up as black but it doesn’t show the map either. It looks like a very blurry version of it.
This is what it is supposed to look like
This is how it looks after rendering
I see another material on the second picture and it is reflective.
Can we make a remote session via Skype or TeamViewer?
Yes we can do a remote session. How do we do that?

Ana helped me to discover that in my Material Browser the material that contained the map was not set to AutoGen. Once I switched this to AutoGen it worked perfectly. Thanks Ana again for your help!
