Render animation with chaos vantage problem

When using transform tools while working with live links in 3ds Max, there are no issues whatsoever.

However, whenever I create an animation in 3ds Max, it slows down excessively.

For example, I added a move animation in the x direction to a chair. When I advance one frame in the timeline, it lags significantly.

Similarly, when I send the animation to Vantage, it freezes when transitioning from the first frame to the next.

Is it a large scene? Could you be having the same issue described by other users in these posts? Which versions of Vantage and V-Ray are involved and can you try going back a version or two to see if it’s just as slow?

I was using Vantage even before the displacement feature came out; it’s been around since then. And yes, my scene is a loaded scene.

We added support for displacement in version 2.2, so if I understand correctly the issue you described in the first post has been happening with any versions of Vantage and V-Ray since then? And the scene is large with many objects, etc., correct? If so then it does sound like the issue described in the other thread - an issue which lies within the host application and how V-Ray interacts with it. I don’t think we can do much about it on the Vantage side.

It’s such an interesting situation. After turning on autokey in 3dsmax, it’s not possible to move the timeline slider. Would you like me to send you a video?

Even though there are no animations in the timeline, jerky movements start when you move the slider.

Hi serdar_turanl,

Are you using Chaos Scatter or Forest pack? If you are using Scatter can you please hide them and see if that improves the responsiveness. There is a bug in scatter that is forcing it to refresh every frame which is currently investigated.

Best regards,
Alexander

Dear Alexander, you may be right about what you said.

I am currently performing a clean installation for Windows version 25H2. Once I’m done, I will share my feedback about what you said here. Thank you.

As you can see, there isn’t much of a problem when my scatter objects are initially turned off. However, as soon as I enable them, the scene starts freezing. When I try to render the animation, there’s a massive delay when transitioning from the first frame to the second one.

I should also mention that I don’t experience this issue when creating animations directly in Vantage — it only happens when rendering scenes imported from 3ds Max. I suspect that the delay is largely caused by the scatter objects.
