Render only bubbles

Is it possible to render only the bubbles after a simulation with the liquid?
This time I dont need the liquid, only the bubble shapes (or mesh)

Thanks as always!

yes, just deselect the renderable option of the simulator

you mean from the 3dsmax object properties?

yes, exactly

I am very very sorry to bother with these newbie questions but the foam doesnt render for me at all.
I am trying to get underwater bubbles.
I simulated water rising up, hitting some objects on the way. The foam is created and I can see it in the viewport.
I also created a PHXFoam object, chose the simulator (also after some tests assigned a material to it) and set it to bubbles. Except for the liquid, nothing renders. Making the simulator unrenderable results in a totally empty rendering..
what am I doing wrong?

turn the foam mode to bubbles, by default it is point, for large scale sims

bubbles is turned on in the phxfoam.

you mean the rendering mode is not point (the default) but you have switched it to bubbles? can you attach a screenshot with the phxfoam settings?

thanks for having a look! you are the best!

Ivaylo, I am sorry. I think something is wrong with some other settings. I just started a new scene and was able to render the bubbles..
I dont know what is wrong with that other scene but I wil just import my geometry and work with a new scene.. clueless but it will work out!
thanks though!

really i didn’t found any problem in the settings. i have seen similar cases, they are caused by broken particle group objects. phoenix uses hidden objects to represent each particle group. sometimes these objects lose the connection with the simulator and the foam shader can’t evaluate the particles. in this case you have to delete them using the schematic view and to pick the particle group again in the foam shader.

this happened to me again in the scene that was working for me. the foam shader is connected to the simulator but nothing is rendered. I cannot seem to find a hidden object either…deleting the shader and linking a new one to the simulator doesnt help either..any suggestions?

you mean there are no hidden objects representing the particles groups? the typical name is something like that "PG of system "
if you find this object, delete it. the best way is by the schematic view

How can I find that object? I’m sorry but what exactly do u mean with schematic view? How do I open that?

see the toolbar,

the schematic view button is placed between the material editor button and the curve editor button. just point them by the mouse and the names appear

alright. sorry for the non phoenix fd related newb question
I deleted the object and assigned the simulator anew but nothing is coming up.

would you be so kind to take a look at the scene? I compressed it to the absolute neccesary parts. still 90mb with the phoenix cache.

thanks a lot in advance. I am lost :face_with_spiral_eyes:

for some reason in your scene all the atmosphere effects are ignored, i don’t know how this happens, i will ask the people around for existence of such a switch that can do this

ok, i found it - there is an option “atmospherics” in the common render panel, switch it on

Nice! Thanks for the fast help as always! really awesome service!
Good to know that the shader depends on atmospherics. Dont really understand why, but good to know

the foam is used mostly in atmosphere mode, of course it is normal to expect that it must work in geometry mode even if the atmospherics are disabled.
