I am using MAX 2023, the latest Vantage, and the latest V-Ray. I have been using Vantage the same way, which is grayscale turntable animations. Render times have always been about an hour for 900 frames and now, it is taking twice as long. I do have the latest video drivers for my 3080TI
Which version of Vantage were you using previously, before it became slower? Were you using the same driver back then? We’ve had a report of a slowdown with the >=510 driver series here on the forum, though we can’t reproduce it reliably. Try driver 497.
We’ve added normal mapping support in 1.7.0 which might be affecting performance, I guess.
Well, each time I go to use it, I have to reinstall it, and I always download the latest. 512.96 is my driver
Can you send us the scene and instructions how to render it so we can test different builds on it and reproduce the slow down ?
Greetings,
Vladimir Nedev
Here it is. Really simple exterior, with a gray override. I do these by the dozens and they always took about an hour for the 900 frames. With the latest Vantage, it is taking more than twice as long.

I dropped down to the lower video driver and the render time is still twice what I am used to seeing.
How many samples are you using to render each frame ?
Are you saving the output to png, exr or jpg ?
Is the AI denoiser enabled ?
Greetings,
Vladimir Nedev
All defaults. I save a png, and denoiser is enabled.
Ok, we will investigate and write back, thank you for the scene.

I forgot to ask, are you rendering the animation using the live link option or are you exporting and loading a .vrscene file ?
Greetings,
Vladimir Nedev
I am using live link
We’re on Studio driver 512.59 and we’re pretty impressed with the speed and performance actually
I am trying the studio driver now.
I had to reinstall to get my toolbar back, and the speed is back up to par. I don’t know what happened, but it is now rendering in about an hour.
