Small Pool Villa in South of France

Hi everyone

I want to share with you an exterior scene I’ve just completed (here you can see also the interiors: https://forums.chaos.com/forum/chaos…e-living-rooms ), it is a small villa in South of France.

Here are some statistics: about 11million polygons + render/multi instances, everything modeled by me in C4D except for the palm trees and a few Cosmos assets (I’ve also recycled a few assets from my pool villa scene https://forums.chaos.com/forum/v-ray…la-scene-3drnb ).
I’ve used Marvelous Designer for the curtains, lighted using a physical sun/sky and a few area lights for the night view, photon mapped caustics for the daylight views.
About 1.5h for each image (3072 pixels) using an 8core machine.

Post production done inside the VFB using the basic tools + some Cryptomatte masks, minor final touch in PS.
I opted for a vibrant look but feel free to suggest how to improve the images, it will be much appreciated

Bravo, well done!

I like some shots more than others but I spotted some potential problem areas as always (after a few glasses of wine as usual) :stuck_out_tongue:

Generally that bump on the water doesn’t work for me…way too regular, so imo appears a bit fake..sorry :frowning:
Arguably, if the wind was strong enough to blow those cool curtains like that then the water needs to be more turbulent :stuck_out_tongue:
It works much better in the night shot but maybe better using displacement so you get some break-up where it meets the pool sides.
I noticed some caustics ‘spots’ (right side of pool in first image) which you can probably get rid of by upping the caustics subdivs on the light’s Vray properties

In my opinion the last shot is the best, though the backplate needs a little more contrast and/or some blur as the mountains currently seem too sharp at the ridge.

I’ll have to post something soon, so that you can get back at me for crit
