Sycamore

Here is one that is turning out pretty good. From start to finish, 1.5 days. I have to work on the gravel and other details, but overall, not bad.

Hi Bobby.

-The gravel looks out of scale and you can see on left corner some kind of pattern
-the color of the grass is very saturated in my opinion
-I’ve seen that you have the same problem in most of your renderings, the glass is very dark, too reflective and flat…Glass panels have some distortion that you can get with a subtle bump texture

the tree shadows on the house are nice. The reflection of the sky on the roof is very believable. I disagree with the comment about the glass being too dark. Look at photos of real buildings and your glass seems right to me.

I was driving back from a client meeting and I was paying special attention to glass, and yes, it’s dark. I brightened up a tiny bit. I also fixed the gravel. I sent it off to the client, so I expect some more tweaks.

I’ll work on the square pavers, which are now tripping hazards

Looks a bit like a ‘game’ render if I’m honest, but in two days to model, texture, light and render: not bad. You really do churn these things out Bobby. You are a busy boy!

What’s making it look like a game render? I don’t want to sacrifice quality for speed, but I am dang busy. Usually, after this initial stage, I start digging into detail.

Reflections, planting, lack of atmosphere…just looks like a ‘click render’. As I say, for a couple of days, not bad at all.

Then, I have my work cut out for me

This is the photo-realistic rendering that the architect provided the real estate people.

Sorry Bobby - didn’t mean to put you down or spread a bad vibe.

It looks like a ‘click render’! lol

It’s all relative

A tree in front of the entrance, really? That has nothing to do with software.

You kidding! That’s why I post here; I value all of your opinions. I have always wanted to go to art school and here, I have the best teachers.

Well. I’m certainly no teacher, in fact I wish you would make me an instructional video, it somehow takes me a week to do something like that. Still haven’t figured out shake siding for example. Is it only displacement or the tile material?

As for the picture I don’t think it looks game at all. The house and shadows are really great in my mind. What I would look at:

- The super flat and clean road and walkway needs work. If I hold my hand over this part, which is big and in the front, it looks really good. Maybe some dirt and cracks and stuff? Or leafs?
- The bushes are too square and oddly repetetive. The color of all the bushes are very uniform and in particular the grass is to strong in color.
- I agree that there is something problematic with the glass, maybe a little more refractive? Looks a bit too much mirror especially on the second floor. Not bad but too perfect reflections, maybe a noise modifier?

Thanks, Nicinus. These usually progress; I post then early to get feedback. Once it’s done, it should much better. Again, thanks!

For me the base of the trees looks to perfect. Maybe select a tree model with a better root structure or raise the gravel around the base of the tree as if it is over the roots. Some noise on the surface you are scattering the gravel would make it look more believable (you could soft select and pull up the center and apply a little noise so it is more mounded) and I would push those hedges together to form a continuous hedge.

IDK how you get to this point in 1.5 days though, maybe your days are longer than mine?

Like most architects, this one wouldn’t release the model, so I modeled from CAD drawings. I tend to work long hours :)[quote=“Jason Stewart, username:Jason_Stewart”]

update

They added a bunch of stuff. From now on, if it isn’t given to me at the start, it’s an extra fee. Good Grief! I modeled for that view and the view might have changed had I know a large wood fence was blocking everything.

I like it, one of your best so far. The only thing I would change is the uvw tiling you get on your fence and in your pavement, it’s not that visible but easy to solve using the randomize transform script from Neil Blevins.

I have heard of that script; I think I’ll try it, thanks! I did get feedback… “Now that I see the fence, let’s just remove it!” Why I oughta!!!
