I work in Sketchup, I run Enscape, which renders perfectly in real time, loading the video card to full, the fans turn to the maximum. After a while, I deal with other points in my project by minimizing the window with Enscape. But on the next rendering, when I expand the window with Enscape again, it stops loading the video card at full capacity, the fans are almost inaudible and rendering slows down a lot, the load on the video card does not increase and rendering continues to slow down, I have to restart Enscape so that it starts loading the video card at full capacity again. Is there a solution to this problem?
P.S. That is the graphics card is loaded at 100%, but the fans are barely audible, meaning the graphics card stops using its maximum TGP. At the same time, the temperature of the video card is no more than 65. It turns out that Enscape cannot re-output the video card to maximum TGP without restarting.

I kind of having the same problem. Everything slows down after a while using enscape. My rendering goes from about 5 seconds to 5 minutes. This happens even though i dont change ANYTHING in the scene. Then if i restart enscape everything is back to normal.

This sounds as if Windows is deciding that an uninteracted with process should have its priority lowered and then is failing to elevate its priority when the user re-engages with it.
Both MS and hardware mfgr’s have been on a power saving push and lowering the power usage on inactive power greedy apps sounds like a thing they’d do.
If you change your power profile in Window’s settings to full (or whatever it’s called) ,ie, ‘damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead’ does that make a difference?
Personally I’ve never experienced it but I only open Enscape when I want to render something, I very very rarely leave it running when I’m modelling.

I searched for ‘windows apps minimised priority’ and got a lot of results, here’s one that explains a way to change the priority of a task/process:
I’m not at my computer but if I remember, Enscape does a good job of hiding itself in Task Manger so it may not be easy to ‘up’ its process.
I’m going to make a guess and say the recent posts on this (maybe just this thread) is due to newer PC’s with efficiency cores in their CPU’s, by default Windows/the CPU will unload background/longtime minimised processes from the performance cores to the efficiency ones.
Hi, Paul. Yes, I changed the priority of Enscape to high in the task manager, but the problem was not solved
I changed the powerplan in windows settings to high performance instead of balanced and havent experienced any issues yet
Real-time renderers like Enscape push the GPU just like a game would, constantly asking it to render frames as fast as possible.
The GPU’s firmware and the system BIOS/firmware control power, temperature, and fan curves dynamically. So, when heat rises, fans spin up; if temps stay low, fans slow down, even if load looks high.
If temperatures rise too high, thermal or power limits can trigger throttling — reducing GPU clocks or voltage to stay within safe limits.
That said, your observation (fans quiet, temps low, but TGP not reaching max) suggests something other than thermal throttling — likely a driver or power-state issue, not an actual temperature-based throttle.
So, combining both perspectives, here’s a checklist
- Update everything
- GPU driver (NVIDIA/AMD)
- BIOS and CPU chipset firmware
- Windows power settings
- Set to Best Performance (especially on laptops, ensure it’s plugged in).
- NVIDIA Control Panel → Manage 3D Settings
- Power management mode: Prefer maximum performance
- Thermal/fan settings
- Check BIOS for performance/fan profiles (many DELL, ASUS, or Lenovo BIOSes have modes for “Performance” vs “Quiet”).
- Optionally, use vendor software (Alienware Command Center, Armoury Crate, MSI Center, etc.) to force a performance mode.
- If you still see reduced TGP after long sessions
- Restart just the GPU driver (Ctrl + Shift + Win + B) — this resets GPU power states.

Im still having the issue with enscape getting slow out of the blue when rendering. Windows also becomes slow while doing it but When i restart enscape everything goes fast again.
Unfortunately, none of Adam’s suggestions helped solve the problem. Without closing Enscape on the second monitor, I work on the first monitor, and as soon as I return to Enscape on the second monitor, the FPS becomes very low, like a slideshow, and the graphics card does not reach its maximum capacity. It continues to sleep. The only solution is to restart Enscape, and since the project is large, it takes a long time. No other program behaves like Enscape.
In the end, I came to the conclusion that the problem lies in Escape, as no other rendering application (games and other rendering programs) has this issue, and the GPU always runs at full capacity in all other applications.
I discovered a very strange thing: I turned off the second monitor and now on one monitor, even after some downtime, Enscape uses the maximum GPU power. Rendering is now very smooth. Did the problem arise precisely because of the use of two monitors? But that shouldn’t be the case.

ummmm so that means that having other monitors might decrease Enscape productivity? well it should not, might need more memory, ram, with more displays but not that much. But gpu and cpu power should stay maxed… Will try it also!
