Topaz Gigapixel AI

This isn’t a pure Enscape tip but it’s closely related.

We recently got Topaz Gigapixel AI (https://www.topazlabs.com/gigapixel-ai) and I’m quite gobsmacked by its ability to enlarge images.

We initially got it because we needed a couple of 8k+px images for a billboard of a model I’d previously rendered BUT my 8Gb RTX2070 was causing Enscape to crash due to the model’s complexity … I’ve repeatedly batch rendered 40+ views at 4k from it but 8k was too much.

GP AI enlarged my 4k images to 8k with remarkable results so we tried it on another rendered image provided to us. The image is only 2952x1476, of poor quality … and we needed it for a billboard!

So I ran it through GP AI and set it for a 6x increase, this would make it 17712x 8856!

Below is a couple of screenshot of GP AI, on the left, is the original 2952 image and on the right is the result of GP AI enlarging it to 17712 … Where the heck has it got the detail from? look at the lamps, the leaves etc. Remember, all that’s in the image is what you see on the left, everything on the right was ‘invented’ by GP AI … remarkable!

For $99 its already paid for itself in saving me from rendering the 2x 8k images by enlarging the existing 4k ones rendered some time ago.

Oh that’s nice, totally going to throw that at our marketing manager. Very often we receive client pictures of our finished projects but they’re mostly compressed to hell and back or low quality so we can’t really use them, this would totally fix that. Thanks for the tip!

I’ve heard lots of really good things about Topaz Gigapixel, I should take a look at it at some point.

This is kinda what DLSS does directly within enscape already,

Always handy to have some useful post processing tools for things!

If you want to pop a ‘poor’ Q image on here I’m more than happy to do a quick test for you.
