Viewport vs physical camera missmatch

Hello, yesterday I was trying to match an aerial photography using a vray physical camera. After tweaking all parameters including horizontal and vertical shifts and hit the render button, I found that what it was seen in the viewport didn’t match with the rendered image.
I’m using Windows XP 64-bit, 3dsMax 2009 SP1 64-bit, Vray 1.5 SP3a 64-bit.
I attach both images.
Vlado, if you want the 3dsmax file, plesae give me a email address and I’ll send it to you.

Thanks

your not using distortion are you?

nop, but after finding the problem I was trying every parameter, changing from cuadratic to cubic, changing to perspective, then to standard camera, etc… but no positive result

and what about camera view-angle ? this can be a problem …

I’m not sure what you mean by that. Being an aerial shot the camera is quite in angle.

It looks as if your angle is off - not necessarily a problem with the VrayCamera itself.

i think i remember that the physcam FoV could not be EXACTLY matched in the viewports.
That’s due to its accurate lens simulation.
Again, if i recall right.

That’s interesting Lele. So to match a 3d camera with a photo would be better to use a standard camera?

that, plus a lens-distortion software.
The standard camera at least doesn’t add lens distortion to the cg stuff, so you only have one distortion (the one in the picture/footage) to compensate for.
PTLens seems good a tool to do that.
