V-Ray V-Ray for 3ds Max General

Has anyone been able to get Vray spawner 1.5r3 to work with a render node in Vista? I can’t get the it to start.

You may need to use the “Run as administrator” option.

I got it working, but ive since removed vista for other reasons and I cant remember what I did. It may have just been the run as admin that was it though.

The “Run as administrator” option does not seem to work. I get the following error: The procedure entry point sdbget AppCompatDataSize could not be located in the dynamic link library apphelp.dll.

In order to get it to do this I change the properties to Windows XP comatability mode. If I don’t make this change nothing happens.

How odd; is this the 32- or 64-bit version of Vista? Any service packs installed?

32 bit I installed the most recent updates and still nothing.

I got it. I use VIZ and forgot about the vrayspawner.ini thing.

Ah, ok. I’ve already modified the spawner to look for 3dsviz, if it cannot find a 3dsmax file, so in future builds there will be no need for the .ini file.
