Vmpp

Out of the blue, I just checked out their material presets again, and they finally have a simple purchase price for their plugin. No confusing subscriptions; just a good old price, so I purchased.

It looks nice; I want to check it out but what’s with the subscription stuff?

Best regards,
Vlado

So what do you think about their material library manager ? I’m more interested in that than the library content.

i realized that one of my missing links is my materialsm sothis should be a good place to start. I’ll let you know ho it goes.

They have some some kind of annual subscription, that gives you access to their plugins. It’s still there, but I also found a link that brings you to a page that allows you to simple purchase the plugin.

I don’t understand their licensing system at all! I bought a 1 year pro subscription a couple of years ago and there’s no upgrade route at all, it seems. So I now either buy another 1 year sub or just buy the one-off cost, which is less. So why would anyone want to go with the sub? I don’t remember there being any major upgrades during that first year.

I think there is a discount for renewing the following year, but it doesn’t appear to be worthwhile given the standard cost of the package…

They also don’t send out any emails notifying you when there are new shaders added to the pack, or updates of any kind.

It’s all very confusing and annoying.

Either way, the plugin itself is really nice and I use the shaders all the time.

I think it was their CMS. The CMS allowed for subscriptions and they didn’t have any kind of eCommerce in place. I think that the subscription is simply their purchase price, but I might be wrong. It was always confusing as heck, so I never bought.

I tried the full version about a year ago and I have to say I was disappointed. On the site there seemed to be different shader packs available that didn’t come with VMPP and these packs contained the most desirable shaders! guh… Also its like get XXX shaders but then you find out 50% of them are different glass shaders with altered values.

No thanks.

I just got my serial number, installed, and it looks pretty cool. They say that there is something like 1,400 materials.

Very soon will be new update. All Default Library materials will be remade for V-Ray 3.1+ (with new Microfacet GTR model). Also will be added new materials.

Now finish Corona Material Presets Pro | Max (CMPPmax) and return to VMPPmax.

How will we be notified of the update?

By registered email. Now prepare user email notifications for each product updates/upgrades…

A new update for VMPP is out: 3.2.0

But it’s not working for me with 3ds max 2016.
Several error messages appear: “Plug-in Assembly Load Error” and “Max.NET Unhandled Exception”

Solution very simple: About Us - Siger
It’s issues with downloaded .Net *.dll files.

Thank you Mr. Valiukas, it’s working fine now!

I wish there would be a search text field.
Would be easier to navigate through that sea of material.

Available new product - Material Repository Pro for 3ds Max. Material/shortcut manager (without material presets), Mtl Lab (V-Ray and Corona) - currently only shaderball scenes, but in future will be included more scenes for interior/exterior, transparent, etc. materials tests.

Interesting, is there a way to see the UI of this new tool to understand exactly what it does?

I have been waiting for a better material manager inside VMPP for long time.
Would it be possible to get the two together working hand by hand? Or both in the same interface?

UI: http://www.sigershop.eu/store/mrpmax-rg-mat-manager/
Interface very similar as VMPPmax. Added only one level - root directory for renderers (for which materials).

I just bought the V-Ray Material Presets Pro and it is really great - especially when you don’t already have a decent Vray material library of your own. :sunglasses:

Regimantas, any chance that you will soon get around to redoing the Gemstone, Mosaic, Parquet and Carpaint for the Microfacet GTR model?
