I would like to express my frustration regarding the latest email from Chaos announcing that my plan now includes a series of new features. As a Cinema 4D user, none of these features are actually available to me. Even tools that have existed for years in other platforms—such as object-level selection and deletion inside Scatter, or proper Scatter edge trimming—are still missing in the C4D version. These functionalities work in 3ds Max and other hosts, yet they have never been implemented in Cinema 4D.
It is difficult to understand how Chaos can charge the same price across platforms while delivering a significantly different level of functionality. As C4D users, we deserve clarity about the future of V‑Ray for Cinema 4D and whether feature parity is truly a priority. Even Corona, also a Chaos product, has already received the latest update, while V‑Ray for C4D continues to lag behind.
This situation is extremely frustrating, and I believe many Cinema 4D users would appreciate transparent communication about what we can realistically expect moving forward.
Absolutely agree. As a business owner we have to make decisions about what software to use in order to maintain competitiveness and when you see that development is stuck then reasonable doubts surge about the continuity.
And I don’t talk about feature parity but the existence of V-Ray for C4D itself.
As @nunomatos said we’d all appreciate a clarification from Chaos’ side.
Since they offer a complete package as a collection at a fixed price and previously advertised that V-Ray makes it easy to transfer projects across applications, it shouldn’t matter at all whether a community like C4D’s (paid software) is smaller or larger. At the moment, it seems more important to tap into a new community like Blender’s (open source) than to serve loyal customers who make their living with it.
It doesn’t really take much to keep customers happy…
Not nice
As I’ve already said in an other post about the same topic:
A couple of days ago I saw an online conversation on Chaos with Vlado. I asked him directly about the future of Vray in C4D and should I have to worry. His answer was: “regarding the very small user-base of Vray on C4D platform they can’t afford to put more resources in its development”.
That’s all folks, I’m afraid.
If there are already a decision why there is no statement from Chaos … and why this silence ???
If it’s true… it’s a shame
But they’ve raised their prices. I couldn’t treat my customers that way… But when you’re big, you can just get away with more…
If the community is too small, it’s only chaos’s own fault… there are very few tutorials or similar resources for Cinema… how are newcomers supposed to get interested in V-Ray.
As a big player and multiple award winner , I’d react exactly the opposite way… That would be premium or just stay to your promises
At the moment, I’d be happy if DR2 worked without any bugs, Scatter were better, and Parallax… I don’t care about the rest… AI, Vantage, real-time… I don’t need it…
And (but don’t think it will ever come) motion blur at interactive rendering, like at max
It would be honest to have some clarification from Chaos. Depending on what the future will be, we may want to end the subscription!
I have listened that too. I start to worry too as is the main tool apart from Cinema 4D for me to make money, As for the lack of response I’m starting to look and test other alternatives to migrate before I need to abruptly need to or they cut the cord.
That’s not the way I expect Chaos to behave in so many years of using their products.
