Where to place domelight?

V-Ray V-Ray for 3ds Max Issues

Hi just wondering, where am I supposed to place domelight?
if it is placed on ground plane - it creates a little artifact in its place:

if i move it 5m up,- it is gone,- but lighting conditions change a too:

I thought it doesn`t matter where it is placed, but obviously it does, so where is the correct place?

It’s not really a bug; someone specifically requested it.
