Did you had any chance to try out the dual but without OC?
Or we just divide your previous single by 2

Stan

This is not different machines (everything is on a single i7-4771 @ 3.50 GHz), but it might be interesting to put things from another perspective:

V-Ray 3.00.08 - 5m 57s
V-Ray 3.10.01 - 4m 16s
V-Ray 3.10.01 with Embree - 3m 47s

Best regards,
Vlado

Wow! I am really impressed. Seems like you guys are doing really good job out there

30% Speed increase for the new SP!? :o That’s insane.

WOAH! when when when???

Very nice. Next week I believe?

Yes, next week, if all goes according to plan.

Best regards,
Vlado

Time: 1min 6.9 seconds.
CPU: Dual Xeon E5-2660 v3 @ 2.6
Max 2015
Vray 3.10.01
Embree on
Win 7

Nice !! Can you repeat the test with Embree OFF?

1.12

*extra characters to meet post quota*

i7 2600k @ 4.2 ghz
Time :
4m13s no embree
3m53s embree ON

DR render (4x 2600k@4.2) = 1m36s (nodes have to wait for the LC)

Vray 3.10.01
max 2015
Win 7

interesting, not bad for a 4 years old cpu

Cheers

Updated times with Vray 3.10.01

Embree off = 1m15s
Embree on = 1m10s

(might improve after a reboot as before, but good to see the speed-up with the service pack - well done chaps!)

Further exploration:
Embree on, bucket width 8 = 1m22s
Embree on, bucket width 32 = 1m12s
Embree on, bucket width 16, Min Shading Rate 6, LC Adaptive tracing, use for glossies, pre-filter and retrace = 0m49s

Vray 3.10.01

Dual E5-2695 V2, 64GB RAM, Quadro K4000, 2x SSD in RAID

1m19 without embree
1m12 with

Vray 3.10.01

Dual E5-2680 V2, 64GB RAM,

1m18 embree OFF
1m12 embree ON

So less cores but higher clockrates = the same in our case. Damn it I should’ve bought the cheaper one :frowning:

Ok I see the 2697 v2 are around 2900$CAD and 2680 v2 around 1900$CAD which is 2000$ more for a dual workstation!
