Image is great, but it looks like your flash and camera are not in the same position? I would expect the shadow of the hanging light to fall directly behind it on the wall and not so low as it is now.

in fact, it is common practice for sites like dpreview.com to test for vignetting
the amount of vignetting also depends on aperture
Yep; that's why it's best done in post, depending on the effect you want to get...

okay, you are right...it´s not exc. the same effect. it´s more like the light gets darker in the corners...

yes, the cam is a little bit right and below the flash. otherwise you would not see a shadow....in my first test i linked the flash to the cam so it moves with the cam. but then i saw no shadow...what´s actually clear. so i moved the cam a bit. i will upload the scene later ....

okay, here´s the file. but remember, it´s just a test file. nothing is really optimized so please play around with the settings. i had to remove some models and textures because they are not free and i´m not sure if it´s allowed to post. i replaced them with some free stuff but i tried to get as close as possible to the old one.

the rendering should look like this. i just add the radial darkening in photoshop and add more contrast. but atcually it got a bit too dark now. anyway, find out what´s best for you....

            and here´s the file (max7):

hmmm...rendering is more flat than the original one...but i guess the "setup" is more important than a nice rendering

Now even computer graphics guys can make bad flash lit photographs.
This could turn into a cult hype. Very meticulously made badly flash lit computer renderings.

personally i find this style of render quite interesting from a technical point of view, but i can't imagine many of our clients requesting the "crappy digital camera" look...

                        here's the test scene..

I was taking a few pics of my new lense setup today and I had to use FLASH on the digital camera for a few shots - Reminded me of this post Hopefully these can be used as research.

it´s VERY important to have direct shadows from the spherical vray light. when you turn on "store to irradiance map" the shadows disappear
