                Really impressive!

Did you guys make some in-house versions without the ridiculous blue trim?!

impressive work! the shaders are spot on .
especially the car paint and the interior leather seats are great !
Are you using scans for those, if may I ask?

Yeah these are great. Flawless detailing and integration as always.
I like the candid handheld style of photography too - do you handle creative direction too?

Yeah, that is great. There is a certain trend in car photography at the moment, cars are shown in natural and believable lighting instead of the high-gloss compositions from the past.

No, the blue trim is exclusive to the BMW i-models. But you could order these in matte grey, too.

The shooting took place in January and we started rendering these as soon as the first plates and HDRi were captured. The main images were done in mid-February, but we did alterations with different configurations for markets like North America and China. In the end, there were more than 60 different images delivered.

We heavily rely on VrScans, yes. Some shaders are really hard to get right, especially car paints with some bizarre color-shifting effects.
The white car paint was a VrScan, although it was not really needed in this case. White uni-color paint can be made from scratch quite easily. But since we already had the paint as VrScan, we used it. It definitely makes sense for the more complex shaders.
That specific brown leather was an inhouse shader, though.

Some of the images were indeed shot hand-held by the photographer. Which makes for some interesting effects in the overall sharpness of the image and the depth of field. It can be hard to match these effects correctly for the render, but it is worth the effort in terms of realism.
The creative direction is handled by the lead agency. They set the overall look and style, also the colors. We give as much input as we can, and sometimes they even listen!

lol, I did always park my BMW on the top floor of a garage as it was normally empty. But within the lines though...mostly.
