Looks good! How does it compare to dreamscape? Can you use all the features with vray or is it similar to dreamscape in that you can only use the actual sea mesh and not the shaders?

i find floodsurf a lot more intuitive and workflow friendly than dreamscape, an ocean setup is real quick and it incorporates very well with vray. there's no flood specific shaders or lighting setup involved. there's a mesh with some clever tiling and tesselation options and some procedural maps that does a good job with foam/wave crests. smack a vray sun and camera in there and you are good to go!

they are both great looking indeed, not sure which one i'd prefer....
workflow wise i prefer floodsurf though, because of it's simplicity, there's no fuss with specific shaders and lights which interferes with vray in any way.
it's still in beta v06, and no sea/geometry interaction yet, but there's been some loose talk about adding this in future versions....Last edited by kimgar; 08-04-2008, 07:58 AM.

if its got no specific materials or shaders how does it calculate foam based on the waves?

it does have maps according to the product page:
FLOOD:Surf Foam Map
- A Node-driven procedural map that indicates foam potential.
- Generates white areas along wave peaks and provides masks for foam textures or particle generation.
- A Node-driven procedural map that indicates the amount of ocean surface compression.
- Use in conjunction with (or as an alternative to) the Foam Map.
- Simulates appearance of water for realistic ocean surfaces.
- Adds highlights to ocean surfaces, including distant highlights to areas with less detailed surface geometry.
FLOOD:Surf Delta Map
- A Node-driven procedural map that describes ocean surface deformation.
- Create masks based on wave height.
- Conveniently export maps via MAXScript.
