Yes, it was not easy to get done. I used a Studio image, that I adjusted for my need. I can't share it, but maybe you find one per google "HDRI studio". Here some interesting links:

    http://www.hdrlighting.com/hdrimages.html

    http://www.hdrlightstudio.com/hypershot.html

One the other side you can create studio HDRI per Vray by yourself - build an environment, set lights and render a 360° panorama (use output gamma 1 and save it as hdr).
Also you could play with a big sphere around your car scene or as HDR studio scene, set the sphere material at single sided, so that the light from outside is shown inside. Now you can play with lights from outside.

        Hi Micha!

I have some questions about some settings you used for some of the renderings in your gallery.

First off course I have to say your work is one of the best to find on the internet! And It also makes me very eager to come up with such a nice pictures.

        1) My first question is about the interiorrenderings in your gallery (pictures 18, 19, 20, 22 , 23, 24).

What do you use to light those scene's and what settings do you use? And do those settings also work when you make the render in the closed setting (so with all the walls and ceiling)?

When I have to make renders off interiors I use the sunlight + rectangular lights behind the windows and off course the lights that will be used in real life like a lamp. etc.
The problem is that when I have to make a render from the topview with the ceiling invisible or transparent, that the sunlight comes in to the room and makes it much too bright! Off course it is possible to turn of the sun, but that will cause a difference in lighting of the normal views inside the room.

        2) Question about exterior renderings (like rendering 59)

I really like the level of detail in this shot and the lighting. I have to render exterior renderings of ships in 3d with a white background. So I would like to try the settings you used to create these images. Also the kind of lighting you used. No my renders are still to blurry and the level of detail/shadow is to low. I use rectangular lights to lit up my scene.

Well I hope you can help me with my questions.

        Thanks in advance!

        Martin

          Hi,

for 1) - there is an important trick to get closed rooms with invisible walls (invisible from outside only!):
          http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?topic=3782.0
I don't used the trick for the images at the gallery here, at my web side are some with this method (for example the bath room (interior or the small air plane lavatories(interior2 .. you can see the invisible wall in the mirror))

for 2) - some infos about my general setup you can find here:
          http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?topic=631.0
This setup + additional arealights should allow the get the look. Also important for my daily work is the framebuffer curve control to simulate an anlog film curve (flat upper curve part) that keep the bright ares and give a good transition between the brightest areas and the darker areas.

                  nice work micha you rule
did you render it bigger and they compress for web, or did you render at that quality
it is such a high quality animation work but its size is a bit small

                    Thanks.

The animation was rendered in 640x480 and is downscaled for the web usage.

they would have market the product much better with your full size animation
maybe you can upload full size somewhere e.g. youtube, or maybe you can put 3-4 screenshots of the 640x480 keyframes in gallery, just a suggestion
