    Re: New Renders

Hi Selant, thank you for your comments and yes feel free to download.

Hi SreckoM again thank you for your comments, with regards to the rug, I would like to say it was challenging and difficult but the truth is it was easy. It is made from a patch of grass and scaled to a good size that resembles that of a rug then it is copied and pasted several times and the whole thing is then linked together and finally change the colour to any thing you want.

    Regards
    Mark

      room 3

      Room 3B
1)Turned off ceiling lights, removed rectangular light that was at the left hand side of the room to help highlight sliding robes.
2)Only light source is hdri and using the physical camera to make light adjustments.
3)Removed a lot of the reflection from the floor.
I think I need more light back in the room

Nice one! May I ask what's the settings of your 'sand-blasted' glass? I found a way do do it, but yours it's better. Thanks!

                Your images are great!

One little thing: did you have seen, that at the last living room VfR cut off the reflections at the ground? I got this problem in the past too - if I remember me right, the material reflection cutoff was to strong per default.

Hi han3d and thanks for your comments

Sliding robe has issue on floor reflection that doesn’t match outside cloudy and blue weather
I think this must be as Micha’s comment regarding reflections
                  Bedroom ceiling lights too bright
                  What do you suggest?
Adjust the f1 car in Photoshop
                  What adjustments do you suggest?

Hi Micha hope you are well and thanks for your comments
As you can see han3d makes a similar observation with the sliding robe.
I will try adjusting the material reflection and re-render the scene

Something I would like to do is make the renders look more realistic, what I have are renders, but how do I get it to the next level of realism
I hope that some of the best people in this form will step up and assist me to reach the next level.
Lets say I use room 3 as my example, what do I need to do to make room 3 more realistic, when any one comes back with suggestions on how I should go about this
I will make the changes and post the results, that way we have a before and after next to each other.
I believe that others would benefit from seeing any changes being made and the affects that each change has on this example.

                    Re: New Renders

if you turn the top ceiling lights a bit lower so the vertical wall that touches the light has a smoother gradation or maybe turning it a bit up so the blemishes where lights and wall touches gone it might be even greater

in general your paintings and the television seems to lack the shadow and lighting condition that the other objects in your room have they kind of pop out from the image not sure how you map them but you may let more shadow of mapped object can pass through the mapped painting

some links of lcd television maybe helps
                    your television a bit flat
maybe you should add some shine

I still dont know why the lights are open in the morning is this a gallery

and in the render with eams chair your outside background map the road doesnt seem to match to the perspective of the room
you may try to match it to the perspective of the floor unless the house is located over a hill
and most possibly the carpet doesnt get enough shadow over it or in the same sense the floor might be too bright at the right corner so why it seems floated
the red carpet doesnt float so try same setup or angle

room 3 is a great render
maybe the painting might be adjusted a bit the lights at the ceiling doesnt seem to lighten the corners
and the long reflection of window light might diminish a bit more along its length therefore you may handle the lack of detail at the window wall

You could play with all real world "dirt" effects like

                        * DOF (light or you place objects in the forground for nice blury DOF effect), vignetting, distortion
                        * more light bump effects (for example you could use the procedural noise) for walls, grounds, ..
                        * reflection intensity controlled by maps looks good often
                        * gaps of tiles could be without reflections
                        * camera obscura effect of window lights http://asgvis.com/index.php?option=c...90&topic=397.0
                        * light colors (outside cold, inside warm)
                        * film grain? - I suppose so, you need it clean
                        * glare effects per postwork

                        also

                        * more small objects like books, flowers, paintings,
                        * more realistic models and texturing for objects like the couch
                        * use fillets where you can, because sharp edges are unrealistic

                          Thanks Han3d
Have made some amendments to room 3 and posted the results directly below the original. Take your point about the lights; I think I was just over stating the obvious.
See my notes on changes made. I do think I need some form of internal light, but just don’t need to show it.

Hi Micha and thanks for your response.

I have never used the above that you mention, can you explain how this is done.
I will play around with the other settings you mentioned, the sofa needs re mapping, I have it completely wrong.

                            Re: New Renders

It's only an idea, not good for all scenes.
If the walls get a light large scaled bump, than it could look like a wall of an old house, like an old villa. Or it could look like the wall paper isn't hundred percent flat.

Mapped reflection - for example the arroway textures will be delivered with maps for reflection:
                            http://www.arroway-textures.com/text...s-59_small.jpg
                            http://www.arroway.de/textures/02/en/index.html
                            http://www.arroway-textures.com/text...s-33_small.jpg
Reflection maps avoid, that the reflection isn't 100% homogenious, some parts are less reflective, some parts more caused by material or agening.
                            http://www.trendir.com/archives/tran...grey-floor.jpg

                            Some other ideas:
                            * walls could be light blury reflective
                            * in the real world you will see often little gaps between furniture and ground, caused by fillets at the furniture feeds or that the furniture isn't at the ground with the full underside

                              Very nice images MarkO

Follow Micha suggestions to improve the realism, also try to use always reflective materials, perfect Lambertian (only diffuse) does not exist in reality.

One thing i noticed in some of your scenes is that camera is too high and sometimes lighting is too diffuse, try to use some area lights with Decay and maybe with various colors..... also look at this beautiful tutorial: LINK

You have given me a lot to think about and plenty to experiment with, many thanks

Alto, again thanks for your input and the excellent link, Lots to-do now.

                                Han3d thanks for starting this.

Don’t expect too much with any new renders I post, it may take a bit of time to get my head around the various new ways being presented to me. And I will still ask questions :-\
