I think clients appreciate sushi, good wine, lobster dinners, juicy stakes... Architects appreciate their designs, and seeing their buildings built, developers appreciate the $$$, someone building a house may actually appreciate a rendering, framing it near their bedstand as something to look forward to while its being built or something.

I can't believe you have given so much time to this fake! Now I haven't read all these threads, so I am quite prepared to be flamed for getting the wrong end of the stick, but please, "Wake up and smell the coffee!".
        Kind Regards,

there webpage is sad, without any examples of their work. If you look at the source code you'll see that they have a makeshift site.

rule of thumb.... get as much as you can upfront, and don't release your high resolution image, without full payment.

I had an architect call yesterday, who had a deadline in a week, but she wasn't willing to get started with a deposit. I apologized, and said that I don't work without a deposit, and within hours I got the deposit. It gives us, as illustrators, more credibility.

Guys! we are not CAD Tech's!

I agree... I guess my point was how much we charge and the service we offer.

I agree but this is not possible all the time. architects generally do presentations to developers. it is obvious that they cant present images with our watermark. Also they are not bothered if we give them hires or lowres, generally they can present thr concept even with lowres images to their clients. And we cant ask for balance payment before submission because they are not sure if their client will be happy with the concept they are presenting.. if not they will comeback to us with amends in the designs..

ALso few of my clients, (architects mostly) got annoyed when i refused to deliver without balance payment. But yes i make sure to get as much advance as possible.

The first couple project, is now my protocol. After that I can bill them for the final.

most of the time, if not all.
doesnt matter how annoyed they are, amends after the supposed delivery day should be an extra charge anyway. stand your ground.

                        • Dusan, after reading your posts you sound completely deflated and frustrated with things at the moment... I personally think the biggest thing to learn is running your business. Personal work is where your passion can be tested, stretched...commercial work is unfortunately a pain in the arse most of the time depending on what kind of clients you have, but we all know what clients are like You are good at what you do you just need to let everyone know!...hope this doesn't sound patronising...its not meant to be. Your attention to detail is great !

Prateek, after reading your posts it sounds like this company is completely taking the piss. It might be best just to wash your hands of them now...obviously still chase the money and make a real nuisance of yourself. This kind of thing really angers me when you have honest people trying to earn money based on a carrot in the shape of future work.
                          Regards

                          • Yes Steve, I'll keep chasing them. Also, i am sure most of us are aware of the company called purerender. They are doing superb work in the field of architectural viz. many of their projects are showcased in Chaosgroup showreel as well. I am a big fan of them! So, while interacting with ducks , i asked them if they aware of this company( purerender) they said no they are not aware, interestingly after few days the guy called Tom from ducks shared an image with me on skype (See attached image), i was shocked & surprised to see that image because i have seen same image in purerender gallery! i will not say he picked it up from purerender website because his image looks different version of same project which is on purerender website. I can smell, either this fraud company is outsourcing for purerender or may be run by some ex-employee of purerender, else from where this guy can get this image? Through this forum, i want to bring this in notice of purerender guys that there is something fishy going on out there..

                            • Interesting.... Thanks for the hint Prateek. Both pics are made by my friend Benjamin Brosdau, they show just different states of production. The one sent by those dubious ducks is the final version.
But you can find the final version all over the internet, published in interviews a.s.o. Just google chesterfield and benjamin brosdau, tada. So no ex-employee or the like.
Will talk to Ben as soon as i see him.
                              Thanks again and good luck

                              • Hi Guys,
I thought this was the best thread to ask about this.
What kind of agreement/client do you sign with clients? Honestly speaking, I sometimes have trouble receiving my money and thought to ask about this to you. Forgive me if I am asking something private, I just think that I need to sign a contract before each job and I don't even know where to find one or prepare one.
I will be very happy if you can help me. Or should I ask about this in a separate theread?
