well, gamma can get all confusing, for that reason I leave everything at 1 and just use the sRGB button (mind you have to reverse gamma correct the textures) but thats the only thing you need to worry about. For your scene, did you consider rendering it with vray RT cpu? i mean if you have this processing power over night, thats one thing you can do.

I am confused with my vray light material. The lightcache processes fine, and the pre-pass smoothly, but the rendering stalls and nothing moves.
I might be stuborn, but light bulbs should glow. I have light in glass, so just a vray sphere light doesn't look correct. Should I avoid the vray light material or, should it not be a problem?Bobby Parker

that 4hr estimated time will just climb and the buckets never move. I can leave this sit all night (I have many times), but it'll just be sitting as I left it.Bobby Parker

Do you have the auto glossy subdivs and interpolate reflections options checked in your solidrocks settings? Since the bug in these options has been fixed they're safe to use and can dramatically lower render times...

When I open a file, in PS, it applies gamma. I choose sRGB, which is why I save my file without gamma 2.2. Is there a way to open a file, is PS, without apply a gamma to it?Bobby Parker

Well I don't have a set of settings which will do the job yet, but I find that you have two things in your scene that create the problem: 1 - displaced floor, which is large enough to create a lot of extra samples which can affect the gi calculation, 2 - the fire card is creating a lot of grain, I think those two need to be reworked.Dmitry Vinnik

I turned off displacement, but that doesn't seem to help. I also tried to render with the fireplace off, and it didn't seem to help.Bobby Parker

Okay. If I had a light source, with low subdivisions, would that slow the render down to a crawl? I have 4 vray light materials, which make s up my fireplace, with subdivisions turned off. I turned it on, turned up the subdivision to 32, and it looks like its rendering. I'm getting a lot of little specs, but I am getting somewhere.Bobby Parker

After one whole week, I am able to render this scene. Literally, all I did was turn indirect light on for my fireplace texture map. I never thought I would be so happy to see little squares move around my screen. It's showing 8 hrs, which is usually pretty high, but I'm fine with that. What has rendered, about 1/8th of my scene, looks nice and clean.Bobby Parker
