    Heya

    Sooo System specs


    Mobo: Asus Z8PE-D18
    CGI: 8800 GTS OC 640 BFG
    Ram 24 gm evv 1066 triple channel
    Hdd: 4x 500 raid 0
    CPU: 2x E5530 2.5 ghz


    So far.... BFG 8800 GTS OC WOOORRRKKSSS , ordering Asus gtx 480 as I post it....

    just to compare performance !

    CPU RT = 2000.000 kpaths/s
    GPU RT = 1900.000 Kpaths/s !! Not bad for so old CGI wow... / Incredible ! I just chock in my usual scene to GPU see how it works ! It runs 400.000 faster than CPU !

    In friday I hope Ill upload gtx 480 data, I hope I wont have to reinstalll windows for it !!!


    Bugs / Whishlist:
    Pink list new ones... black old one..
    Whishlist :

    1.Lower threat priority, lag like crazy....
    2.Maybe measure GPU memory... ?
    3.Disable specular/diffuse/reflection asap plz..
    4.An option to disable all textures plz..
    5.An option to override Shader/MTL of objects that have incompatible shaders/mtl Would be nice if we got 400 objects instead of hand picking them to just give them desire color so we can see it in viewport /render /etc
    6.Option to use Mixed mode plz.
    7.Restart NODE Vray service, if it crash, or just restart, having to go through 10-50 nodes by hand to just close down and start up again Vray RT - IT IS A PAIN.
    8.Fallof Map plox
    9. When using one of max windows to act as active shader, would be nice if I could chose to render it at custom resolution and not the size of the window...

    Bug list:

    1.the -5 error popping it at random times when I quickly unhide groups of layers of geomtry. Could be me ither doing it too quick and GPU crash or I'm simply at the edge of my 640 mb memory...
    2.Black evil DOTS....
    3.Invisible to camera object come up white in GPU render
    4.Light pointing away from object can be reflected as black nothing back in object when its set to be invisible
    5.Vray procces will not clean up ram after its finish and 3ds max its closed ! It will hold both GPU memory and RAM
    6.Vray Plane Light, lighting a plane will have a sharp fallof at the edge of light end... quite weird... CPU only, GPU works fine - Gamma issue o.o
    7.Causics ! CPU not supported(random, one time is one time its not... or I'm blind, GPU is.
    8.F10 > Indirect Illu > Caustics > Multiple aint doint anything in GPU RT
    9.F10 > Settings > Light Settings > Multiple Caustics aint doing anything either...
    10.Material > Fog Collor in GPU aint working... CPU is fine
    11.GPU always generate caustics even when I untick Vray:: Caustics under production render
    12.Max Photons arent woring either... I guess Caustics under GPU are clear ''effect'' with no options to control... good to have it anyway ^^
    13.Render resolution changes. When I click on icon to start production render at 10k, its ok fine rendering, Then I click f10 go to RT set preview to 1k, click render Fine. Now the issue starts when I click and hold the icon to start production/RT the resolutions keep changing, none of them is holding their values. Also when I go from RT to Production, and backwards all SAVE files are getting dis-ticked, meaning nothing gets saved...
    14.Turbo Smooth, if I have it set to render only during the render time, and not in viewport, causes crash to my GPU RT, -5 error... Looks like GPU actually try to load geometry at high quality or something... or just my fail
    15. When I convert max perspective window to act as active shader, if then I will add Light/Object Vray RT wont get updated.

    So your old graphics card is similar in speed to 2 CPUs? How many cores on each of those CPUs?

      Check out the tips here: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/rt10...m#load_balance (where is says Balancing GPU load). Try values like 128/8 or 128/4 and see if they help with the UI lag.

      Maybe measure GPU memory... ?

        2x 4 cores / 8 threads / 8 cores / 16 threads / 20 ghz in total computing energy....

        Taking ages to load up the scene.... still dwonloading drivers tho so I guess, they should speed it up and make it smooth even more...

          Hi

          Wow exiting morning... k. I've started to test my scenes and they all just work perfectly.... I got BOOST from using GPU+CPU which is great... no crashes all fine and smooth... W8 for tomorow gtx 480 to arrive...

          Found something a bug... maybe... cant say without new cgi, I noted it in 1st post...

          However in mean time, Vlado do you think I could be granted access to the Multi kerner version of GPU ? I simply need to get VrayBlendmtl to work and test it out in work...

          Also I have noticed that Vray stresses completely different GPU. I started to OC my bfg 8800 and from 550 I jump to 700 and the temperature its still that same ! Does it mean that Vray-RT Is ussing gpu in a way we can OC it like crazy ?

          And btw I see that how Bitmaps BUMP is handling is completly different ! Works amazing, so quick and perfect.... love it ... ah and somehow PNG is working ..

            Got GTX480... looks like it works as fast as 8800gts LOL...

            Also I'm still curious about the previous post questions as well as... can CPU + GPU mixed mode actually slow down ?

            Also what does this mean > If you give it a value of "2", only the intersection will be done on the GPU, and the shading will be CPU?

              Yes; depending on the number of threads that are running - this needs some more research to find the right balance. What is your CPU?

                CPU: 2x E5530 2.5 ghz / 2x quad 2.5 ghz / 16 threads...

                I just ran test.. I get more kpaths/s with CPU than without

                Also experimenting right now with that Ray Bundle size and Ray per pixel.... Are the changes interactive, or I have to restart RT? So far I'm at 32/32... I realised that More Ray Per pixel the more kpaths/s I got... But the update is soo slow :/

                Gona try hook up my quad 3ghz + 8800gts in a min to check out distribute rendering...

                About the scene yea gime few mins ill finish tests and I'll send u files...

                    Heya

                    Haven't send the scene yet... had to battle with boss... he love the performance, LOL finally... anyway I cant use Node with GPU... somehow Its using only cpu even when I'm using mixed mode.... GPU works on its own if I start max in node and render there, but wont work over DBR... Only cpu... Any hint ?

                      Check the driver version on the render slave, maybe it's too old and doesn't have the OpenCL support.

                        Heya

                        I found the issue of Black Evil Dots. It was bump <lol>, no idea why it caused... I'm sending u scene in a minute... About the node, it got the same drivers as the workstation newest one... Maybe There is a switch somewhere in setings that I dont know where, I get to chose what CPU or GPU node will use for RT?

                          It should be automatic (it works through DR even on the local machine). Can you show me the output from the console window on the server?

ID:	843317 CPU is working like crazy, but the GPU wont even move...

                            Btw the EVGA Precision its great tool to tune up the Ray bundle size and rays per pixel... What I've notice is that if its too small we will only use 50% of gpu or something like that... in my case area about 20/20 keep the gpus at 80%-90% which works good so far.. wish I could increase the refresh rate tho...
