Nice overclock...gotta keep pushing the envelope.
They key to getting a high overclock without stressing the memory is to try to keep the memory as close to stock as possible, and that goes for the Hypertransport as well. If you can keep the memory and HT close to stock you will be able to push the FSB much higher to get a more stable overclock.

Om my DFI mobo, i was able to OC my 3000+ up to 2.5ghz (stock of 1.8ghz) keeping the memory and HT at basically stock there was no noticable heat increase either

Hey there is nothing wrong with 12 hours of solid gaming.

Too right. I have to start covering my case up at night because its like a Uber night light.

Just as a little comparison for refference, I don't have X2, but I do have dual Opteron 246, which is not nearly the best proc out there anymore:

true, but most of the time it is.

been doing a bit of homework,it appears my problems where caused cos i didnt disable the CPU spread spectrum! i think also i need to disable sata center spread and pci center spread.
i guess these are the apg/pci locks i keep reading about?
going to try that and then have another go....
