We do provide updated builds to people who come against a bug or problem that cannot be solved with the last official build (and see what happens... in return someone goes on and posts that on a pirate site).
thats what makes it all the more annoying for those that did receive such an update (of which I was one), yes there is lots of versions out there but becasue of some judas in here, it makes us all look bad. I am sure you could find ways to identify the culpurit and F&*k him/her out of here before reporting to whoever necessary.
Tom
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

Yes, but the cat is already out of the bag in any case...

This is really sad. I think you should "serialize" each copy that goes out, so you can see if one lands in the wrong place...and make sure this serial can not be ripped without crippling the program
well - after reading all and the Vlado post I can say just one thing -
"Chaos should at least be honnest with all of us and say - hey guys we promissed several times the realease date and screw it up everytime - now we are not waiting for any dongles or anyfuc... HW but trying to hunt all bugs down before we will release the THING. Till then please don't ask and we will not replay ... and oh, I forgot we are stopping to wokr on zilion different connections to other softwares and are going to FINISH THIS BABY for you asap."
please don't get me wrong, I am happy user of Vray since its first incarnation but just don't understand how anyone can say a " deadline" without any responsibility - all of us know that when you "f..k" the deadline the client never come back.
after reading my post I can see maybe I was too hard .....
I will not delete it ... I will just hope that Chaos will talk to us seriously - we all make mistakes ... and know how hard 3D, ecpecially the software is, but we are not fools and can understand your position - just talk to us without any non sence "things".
Yes, but the cat is already out of the bag in any case...
Best regards,
Vlado
That is really great Vlado, you caught the culprit! What a F*** that person is!
Obviously this person has no morals whatsoever! Thanks for taking away some of the trust between us, the users, and Chaos. We all, as a Vray community, really appreciate it! Maybe if you have any guts you will expose yourself and take the pounding you deserve!

Hi Vlado and thank you for replying, it is always better when we know what you guys are thinking. I am sure it sucks for you to have your hard work stolen.
I was one of the beta testers on the max version of arnold when it was around (mainly due to working with ruairi robinson who was one of their main testers) and as Vlado has mentioned it can be a bit of a problem to continually release the current beta of the software. We used to get quite regular builds of the program, find bugs and send them back and get a new build soon after. It became a huge pain in the ass trying to remember what job was done using what version of arnold as changes in the code would add, remove and break parameters so your scenes could be problematic. Also if you had to re do a job or make changes some time later, different builds would give you different light solutions and your renders ended up slightly brighter or darker which was a pain in the arse if you just needed a single frame fix to cover a glitch etc. Vlado very kindly gave me a build to solve a problem I had with pflow motion blur but since there were probably a load of quirks with the build that I didnt know I went back to 1.47.03 since I can't afford to lose time with render problems and as someone mentioned there's no point in Vlado spending time supporting and compatibility coding for things that aren't going to be in the next stable build.
Well...if people want a sneek peek at the new features or want to know the direction that Chaos is heading...i would say that posting images and animations of the features for all to see is the best route....not handing out point releases(unstable/buggy) outside of the beta circle.
I don;t really understand any of the point release availability arguments. Now, if Vlado/Chaos choose to fix a particular problem that you may be having....sweet.....but are they obliged to do so....NO. Be happy that they are the kind of people/company that will do what they can....but don't ever expect that they should. I can't speak for the people that have just recently bought Vray but when i think of how much its changed/developed since i bought it....and i haven't spent an extra penny for any updates....i take it as a gift that you just can't bitch about. The fact is we pay for the software "as is"....and they have no obligation to us to make it better....even though they are, indeed, making it better for us....just not fast enough...or often enough according to some!!
Be patient and be grateful....you've gotten alot for your money already!!

My thoughts exactly!
I too was one of the lucky ones to receive an update;
I feel A,honoured that ive been able to have a play with some of the features,
and B,like ive stepped on people's toe's(Eric's etc..).You guys have been round here from the start and in my eye's should be top of the pecking order....
As for DICK BRAIN who gave away the update,he/she was trusted with the update and then goes and takes the P*** (always wanted to use these)
my 2 cents worth....

You particularly like marketing?
I love to do real world tests.
I've been taking the piss of enough people during my demo artist years for Max 1 and 2.
Pics are fun, but can be, and often are, misleading.

....end of rant.
You make it sound as if we expect a free service, when in fact I do not, for one.
If 1.5 costed money, and we could buy it to ENHANCE PRODUCTIVITY, then we would pay for it.
'course we're glad it comes for free, but it has to come, some time or the other.
If it takes too long, and the situation calls for an optimisation of our pipelines in the mean time, we will put money where we think they can give us the better return.
Should we find nothing bests VRay (as for us it's been the case for the last few years, bar a stint with Mr between the distant 1.09 and 1.45, guess what), we could only resort to a painful and troublesome wait.
But if in the meantime, for a specific task, something better comes out, it won't be money stopping us from buying that solution if we see a better return for our investment.
And definitely it won't be promises which'll keep us on this boat, but facts.
We're mercenaries after our own survival, not in the game for the sheer fun of it.
We pay to play, and bet on the results.
As i stated before, it would be of extreme interest, and we'd SURELY be ready to pay for it, to have some hands on insight on the directions taken.
But this has been discussed, and answered extensively.
You've taken the polemics for the meaning, i guess.
