Whats about kicking out mental ray and bringing in vray 1.5 instead. ?

i love this speculations about 9.

sure it will be completely rewritten, better as xsi more intuitive, zbrush like tools build in, and an adapter to the backside of our brains..

ah yes theres a new pulldown menue..
            it´s called:

create new well paied job. with some options to switch on and off.

at last theres of course a module build in, caled "freetimestretcher."

                    Spent time on googling:
                    - MentalRay 3.5 integrated, this version has simplifications in GI Interface and in SSS Shader, FinalGather got some presets, it's faster, DR. just as simple as Scanline and it doesn't have any CPUs limits. Indirect Lighting were unified, allowing you to migrate from Radiosity engine for realistic arc.viz. Also added a Carpaint Shader, some shaders for Arhitecture, Phys. Sky and Sun.
                    - Added availability to use layers in Curve Editor.
                    - Character studio also improved, now it makes tracks separately for fingers and toes.Support for max' Bezier-tangent system.
                    - Improved overral perfomance. Viewports are a lot faster and is able to show more spec. information than before.
                    - Hair&Fur: no more separate interface, you can work directly in max' viewports now. Hair will show up in reflections and refractions in the scanline renderer. You can add shaders to the hairs directly with mentalray.
                    - Fully integrated nPower PowerBoolean. No more "pro booleans".
                    - Cloth made fully interactive, allowing you to interact with it in chosen viewport. You can adjust settings in realtime.
                    - New to Reactor: it now has two solvers for RigidBodies old and new one, that is faster and more accurate.
                    - XRef improvements. Biped accepts them now.

Plugins from previous versions - won't work. Scripts system won't be affected.

Max9 will be shown at Siggraph, but it goes public only in late October. Price policy won't change also.
                    Minimum RAM amount for x64 version - 1gb. Recommended - 4gb.
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

                        is that it ?

Wow it sounds like the old list of usual improvements. I hope there is something more out there - something ground breaking that Morbid has been hinting at - maybe 64 bit is just kickin and makes max like a shiny new Ferrari - yeh right !! - we'll know soon enough.

                        Thanks for the info

That alone (if really true) would make our subscription worth the money *crossing fingers* :P

                              wow pretty lame

I have just read through the new features and I have to say they are pretty damned lame. No material editor updates - lots of mental ray shite, I don't know, this is alot lamer then I had expected - I wonder what Maya 8 has to offer - what a Godawful dissapointment - but maybe I am reading all this wrong and the new things are great

                                yeah...mostly bullshit...
the "core performance improvements" better be good.
