      Here we go:

I had to remove one of my RAID drives as it wanted to eat that spot.

And FYI, no official x64 drivers as of yet and I can't seem to locate betas. Grubbed one hidden off of the eVGA CD - but who knows what it is for.

Yeah it is a little messy.. that ribbon cable makes it look extra crap I must admit.

Mind you keeping a case tidy with 9 HDDs of which 5 are IDE is no small feat!!

Will grab my GF's sony cam and get a decent pic.

There's definitely a price to pay - I don't think I'm getting full performance out of these drivers on x64. I haven't touched a game so I cant tell from that alone if theres much of a noticeable difference. There are some, but I think proper drivers need to be released from Nvidia first.

Yeah nvidia wont be far away I imagine.

Turns out the XFX branded 8800GTX is delayed again, but they have stock of the Asus branded one, so I will be getting that.

Kinda funny, I went thru all this about a year ago when I was getting my 7800GTX, funny how things repeat themselves, especially with computer hardware purchases.

Ugh - that's gotta suck. Why do they tell you they have it only to go back on their word. Isn't that the second time this has happened to you for this card?

As for Nvidia, you'd think that because its a high-priced, cutting-edge release, they would try to get the proper drivers in the hands of power-users to want to put it through it's paces. It seems almost like a rush-release for either the holidays or competitors.

Well, I hope they can pull a good trick out of the hat for Vista or other x64 based OS's soon. Perhaps even better performance.

Well the first time i called they said there was stock but selling quickly and by the time they checked it was too late. Then the card was placed on back order and they gave a delivery date of today, but there was a delay.. *out of their hands* and now here I am.
Getting an Asus.. fine by me.

Well as the cards are basically designed for Vista and DX10, im pretty certain they will have some proper drivers out VERY shortly.
As for XP64, well I can assume that they will be updated, nvidia is usually pretty quick with that sort of stuff.

                          Just got my Asus 8800GTX

And I am kinda flawed by the sheer size and weight of this damn thing... its nuts.

I am running SPECapc at home now (via VNC) and tonight when I have installed the 8800GTX I will run it again and compare.

                          Post results later/tomorrow.

                          Game on!!

latest drivers i found (dont exactly know if they support the card though)

guru3d is a good source for leaked drivers btw.

the usually mark stable ones and you can check the response to the files in their forum

32bit version that officially supports the 8800 (and only that one)

Yeah I have the latest X64 leaked drivers from there which I believe the grubbed from the ASUS website. I obtained 2000+ points in 3dmark over the ones that came hidden on CD.

Well what a fiasco my install has been.. the physical install was fine.. fitted perfectly plenty of room..

but the drivers... well.. buggy as shit.

I have a problem which ALOT of people out there are having.. initially i got a blank screen in windows even tho windows was running fine.. after a few reboots.. uninstalls.. driver cleans..etc..etc.. i got it working in wwindows.. but without a nvidia control panel.. as in its empty.. some games play fine.. some other corrupt and bomb out or lock up teh computer.. one game NWN2 (neverwinter nights 2) played fine for awhile.. then bombed out..then when i rebooted it wouldnt work any more.. kept freezing up in certain menus.. then i reinstalled the drivers over the top (exact same ones) and it work just fine again.

GOnna try a full reinstall on a old HDD today to see if that helps as it seems to have helped some others.

                                crapola.
