you might want to try using this
    http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page...atorrip&menu=0
gets rid of all remains of nvidias drivers
ive had similar problems in the past - helped

if your control panal still doesnt work afterwards, you might want to use rivatuner to control the settings (better than the panel anyway)

        mike.edel:
Thanks I have actually used DriverCleaner which does a similar thing.

Its not just the CP missing, the card doesnt run well.

But i got it fixed now.

        thanks
Yeah i got it working, there was a couple of forums talking about it, and you need to replace an INF file and then install the drivers with the updated INF file. After of course removing the old ones, rebooting to safe mode, running driver cleaner then booting back to normal.

So games and stuff fly now, i just might need to try a different drive install approach as 3dmark06 doesnt seem to work so well.

True most of my games look like crap... I did put my 2nd card in a Vista built tower and it seems to run a bit better with the last NVIDIA’s vista drivers. Still not the full Dx10 drivers but I got it running. tweaking things a bit has been the story of this launch...

My Nvidia contact told me they expect full vista drivers by the end of this week. So lets hope we get them and it will resolve most of our fustration thus far. Cutting edge tech is so fun but so hard to work with... I had the same issue with my 7950GX "which was the first rev of the GX2..."
          Thanks

btw guys - I've been reading up on the 8800 and apparently you need a newer processor to get the most out of your card. Not the best news I've heard.

Daforce and I run 4400 X2s and we top out 7500-8000 on 3dmark06. People with the QX6700 can get 12,000 on up...

There's also other articles about the CPUs and 8800s you can read up on at Toms Hardware.

Well after much trouble the sucker is working in 3dmark06

                              8221 3dmark points.

I thinik it was one of my tray icons causing the problem. Some program interrupting 3dmark during its tests... at random times mind you and causing it to crap out.
