Nope. It's affectin'. Maybe it's because the smoke flow not that intensive. And also no shadows + GI (it looks worse than no GI version, which I'm uploaded too... )

P.S. Must say, it seems when you increase the details (by f.e. increasing "quality" setting by 5) you get less dense smoke, but more detail.
Looks like aura, but far more complicated. Kinda joke, but you got here a thing called kinda "velocity vector", it looks like an arrow, but you need to rotate it 180" to properly force the smoke direction (force arrow pointing an opposite needed direction). Or at least it looks like that

      30000.avi
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

yes thats correct. you will need more velocity too.

for smoke only i can recommend using quality setting of 1. higher than that and it more difficult to get what you want. for fire and smoke, then i have been using 3-4.

er for force direction its easy, use a wind, no gravity, or simply crank up the directional force on the emittor. radial does what it says, object is based for moving emmittors, and directtion uses the arrow on the emittor, like a point and shoot.

Does anyone know how fume fx handles rendernodes? Does it need a render license per node or you can install it for free on your renderfarm?

Yep - bang on there. What it does is quite similar to realflow in that it saves out a file for each frame of your sim so you'll need to store those on a network drive. The licensing is like any other acap plugin, you pay for an interactive license that you have access to the ui with but you also get unlimited network rendering. It's much quicker to render in vray thanks to the undersampling too.

yep its that easy. there is some mutterings about getting two sim licenses with the main license, but thats being worked on at the moment, as far as im aware.

two things. expect to eat hard disk space at a frightening rate, and secondly expect some slowdowns as each machine pulls 400mb data per frame. other than that its simple!

yeah good call unknown, the sim files do tend to get very large indeed!

Here's the ad that I would have been fucked without fume and vray made it infinitely quicker to render...

Really cool ad! Have u used 3d models of the players with mocap to drive the flow or is it image-based?

                        Great work!

                            Excellent Work

                            That's a brilliant ad.
Now for some off topic rambling - I love that track, it's the Bay City Rollers right ? I had a truely Spinal Tap moment with the BCR at a pizza restaraunt here in LA. I wanted to get some food but the bottom part of the restaraunt was closed. Only the bar part was open, there was a small cover charge because a band was playing. The billboard said tonight Bay City Rollers. There where about 20 people in the place, I presumed it was a cover band. As I was eating my pizza, between songs the lead singer started talking in a faintly Northern Ireland accent about how the last time they played this or that song was in the Hollywood Bowl, or this song was number 1 for 10 weeks.
I thought these guys are real freaks, they think they are the Bay City Rollers, asking the bartender I was blown away when I discovered that it really was them, well at least three of them. After the gig they where selling merchanise which one for there friends was carting backwards and forwards from the car they had driven up from Long Beach.
They asked how I heard about the gig, needless to say I didn't have the heart to tell them that I was hungry and just came looking for a pizza

                                Heya Folks,

Cheers for the replies. We made the ad by rotoscoping over some dv footage of people playing rugby and made the 3d character emitters with fume. That gave us a smoke pass. You can also reuse the movement from the fume sim and put pflow particles through it which gave use a granier pass which went over the top. Lastly we mixed a bit of footage back over the lot.

No krakatoa involved but it could feature very heavily on my next project.
