So you go to edge select mode. You look up, see where extrude is. Sound. Do your thing, switch to edit poly and... Extrude has moved half way across your monitor to a different position, in a different box surrounded by different tools.
Not even joking, what the fuck do autodesk think they are playing at? This happens with every single tool and there is no relation between them aside from the tiny icon. it's awful and even makes a mess for newbies like they claim to be catering for.
I heard a talk on TED a while ago about how the human brain is much better at pattern recognition than it is words. (its why we recognise faces better than names) So if you make an interface filled with complicated shapes/nonsense that stays in the same place it is actually easiar to understand at quick glance than one which is a bunch of words that move around, even though it may seem more imposing at first. This is how the brain works, why make it harder.
I am actually quite angry about this, it's such a huge step backwards it almost has to be an april fools joke.
