  • Tricks/Tutorial Requests Here

    In an attempt to keep this section clear and uncluttered I'm posting a specific thread for tutorial requests. Just post them here, and if someone wants to fulfill a request please post that tutorial or tip within a separate thread. This thread is for REQUESTS ONLY...not for completing those requests. One a request has been met, a link will be added to the specific post redirecting to that tutorial. Thanks.

    Multiple Lights Settings

    In VfSU, is it possible to manage the setting of more than one light in single window?

    here is an example in 3Dmax:

              Re: Tricks/Tutorial Requests Here

              Hi,

              V-Ray saves the renderings and an alpha-pix. How do I use them the best way with PS3 Ext. Animations have hundreds of alpha-pix and asigning every single alpha-pic as a layer mask is madness.

              thanks in advance for your support

                One of my longtime issue, it's the rendering time. Long rendering time to be more precise. It's there any work-flow to follow, that with help us to determinate the best approach in order to get good enough results, with reasonable rendering time?
                Thanks.

                  Hi,

                  My request list if you may, please: -

                  1. As put forward by Nomer, any tips/pointers on making the perfect vismat for LEATHER with falloff? ditto for VELVET, SILK & JUTE?
                  2. Anybody having perfected making RESIN material- that is: Colored(yellowish orange Glass with blurry interior caustics); if one would recall that famous 'fossilized mosquito' scene from the movie Jurassic Park 1;
                  3. Best way to create NEON tubes (without having to PP) as in Discotheques or nightclub signages;
                  4. Any pointers/ links for creating gemstones' vismats - (a) DIAMOND, EMERALD etc. (Translucent family); & (b) PEARL, ONYX etc. (Opaque family). Even modeling techniques would be welcome...

                  Thanks in advance,

                  Macho

                    Re: Tricks/Tutorial Requests Here

                    Hi all,

                    Could anyone help with posting pertinent links to tips/tricks/tutes on artificially lit (no sunlight) interior lighting settings (using rectangular/omni/spot lights) for totally enclosed spaces (like offices etc). I did many searches on the forums as well as downloads section but didn't come up with any really helpful material. Any help is highly welcome;

                    Also, I've already been through the Manual but didn't get detailed info about Omnis/spots & specially GI settings for totally enclosed spaces - how to use & tune the rendering engines in consonance with lighting of totally enclosed spaces that DO NOT USE SUNLIGHT to light the scene. For a person who has been using Max (from v6 through to Design 2009) I can tell you Interior lighting of this nature is the most demanding and difficult to accomplish for realistic renderings.

                    A new thread on this topic in the Tips Tricks section with inputs from all experienced users could really help..

                    Thanks a ton in advance.

                    Macho

                      Re: Tricks/Tutorial Requests Here

                      I'm looking for tutorial that shows how to set material (like this grass: http://asgvis.com/index.php?option=c...ileinfo&id=334 or any other) to model. I have tried hard to do this on my own but without any success. Any good tutorials available?

                        Re: Tricks/Tutorial Requests Here

                        i think you dont need any tutorial with this, all you have to do is to import this material and reink the texture maps provided. by just looking on the sample material i could say that it has displacement applied. so my quick guess is yu cant see the displacement happening. one must thing that you do is to make the face you applied the material into a GROUP. then you will see the displacement.

                          It would be great to have a tutorial on putting together a render farm. As simple as possible- maybe just between 2 or 3 machines. Including the minimum parts build for the slave machines also.

                            There is a small overview of the V-Ray side of things in the manual. Beyond that its going to be very hard to fulfill a request a like that just because there are so many variables that go along with it; from hardware, to firewalls, to the network you're tying into. The basic jist of if it is that you need the IP address of any of the other computers and to keep the firewall from stepping on to many toes.
