    Thanks Svetlin,

Look forward to it - as my client has been asking

      Hi Svetlin,

      Hope you're keeping well.

How is everything going because I tried the nightlies of the 27th and I still have no foam, I then reverted back to the 3.05 production version I have (which did produce foam) and when I loaded the scene there was a message saying a Phoenix dlr is missing. So I currently have a scene with no foam even when using the 3.05 version.

      "Missing Dlls - phoenixfd.dlr Class:PhoenixFDPartsys Superclass:0x10"

Also how is the fix for the volume edges being visible ?
My client is wondering what is going on

      Please can you advise ?

      Many thanks.

        Hey,

If you have already saved your scene with a 3.11 nightly before installing the nightly from 27th, you won't get the particle system nodes back. In this case, you should just manually pick the simulator's foam and splash systems with the particle shaders and the particles would appear again.

Once you have saved the scene using 3.11, you will indeed get a warning when opening with oldes Phoenixes about the new particle system nodes which were not there yet in older version. It's okay to ignore it, and the workaround is the same - re-pick the foam and splash from the particle shaders.

In tomorrow's nightlies there will be some changes addressing differences between the ocean using physical camera and perspective view.

I'm currently looking at equalizing the detail of the normals inside and outside the container. Will ping you when there is progress.

Could not reproduce the teal noise using your scene though - do you have any progress clearing it on your side?

        Cheers!

          Hi Svetlin

I understand - I will reinstall the latest nightly and manually pick the simulator foam, splash etc.

Great news re cameras/perspective view differences, I'll await that version as well.

Teal noise, is that not visible with the scene file I sent you ? I'll check if that had an older version of the sea material and will send that to you later.

Many, many thanks for all your help

            Hi Svetlin,

I'm seeing progress, foam issues getting sorted thank you very much but I'm getting funny issues now with the ocean at the horizon.

Please see attached (and my signature for which Phoenix I am using ).

(please ignore the jacuzzi and waterfalls - I'm happy with those ).

Hey, an update - I'm experimenting with an algorithm that would equalize detail between the container and the ocean extension, and it looks promising, but it would need more time. Will ping you as soon as I have a build that is working well so you can try it.

                Cheers!

                    Hey, today's update:

I added an additional step to the ocean meshing that smooths out the container surface in the distance and the render has improved a little, but the issue is not resolved yet. The changes will be in tomorrow's nightlies so you can try them on your setup where you have improved the material shading and check how it looks. Here are some renders of your setup with the old version I have - the original render of frame 2120, the same frame with the modified algorithm, and the modified algorithm with 8 ocean subdivs (the difference in peak memory usage is 19 vs 43 GB or RAM):

                      Hi Svetlin,

I'm *extremely* grateful that you're providing such attention to my issue, thank you so much.

It's certainly an improvement, thank you

The 8 subdivs is going to be a no-no - when I tried that myself, (to improve the noise in the sea), my render times went up a lot (7x if I remember rightly).

Tomorrow's nightlies is good, and if you need a little bit more time, that'd be fine - at some point next week though, we're going to have to pull the trigger and render out these pups

So if that little bit of extra time might help, it's there if you need it.

Once again, many thanks for your amazing efforts

Ah, just note that after the change the render times will increase with the same settings because of the processing that goes on for the ocean surface.

I wasn't able to work on the surface today and will likely need to spend one more day on other tasks, but I hope by Tuesday I'll be back on the surface detail equalization since I have another idea to try out.

                        Cheers!

Any news or an update of when I can expect a Nightlie to give this a try on ?

Hey man, returning there currently - right now I'm looking at some related ocean stuff and hopefully tomorrow will be looking at this again. I got one more idea about how to approach ti, so hopefully either one of the two will work out better.

                            Cheers!

Wow Svetlin, that is really looking fantastic !

A massive improvement on where we started

                                Thank you so much.

Will await the nightlies, no need to ping this evening as there’ll be nothing I can do until the following day.

So I’ll wait for you to confirm if Wednesday is the one for me to download.

                                Many, many thanks.
