I think you can just restart your sim with timescale animation. That should fix the problem, if no other soluions are found.

Yes, I also thought of that - that may be a solution, but it would be very, very uncomfortable and time-consuming - I would have to simulate A LOT of unecessary frames - each time I have to retime.
Testing this solution would cost days...
That would definitely endanger my deadline!

Okay, two ways to solve this:- Make everything without adaptive grid
- Use adaptive grid but animate the speed with time scale in dynamics
Second solution will not work, because I have nearly 1000 Objects influencing the sims - and therefore I would have to retime them all at once - which is not managable - at least with max 2012, 2013 has some new retiming-features, but I cannot change the whole pipeline 2 weeks before deadline...
Please, add this information to the documentation - that might have saved me from running into this trap.
