  • deformable meshes with liquid not working anymore

    Hi
A have problems with mesh containers that deform and have liquid inside(flip).
An example could be a sphere that contains water and have an animated nosie modifier.
I have scene files where this was possible in prior versions of Phoenix(although hard do to) that won't work anymore.

    Any ideas?

    Hello,

Here is a sample scene - is this the effect you are looking for?

      Thanks for the scene.
I can't get it to simulate though. It says "no frame loaded".
I have tried to reset to default in output and input but can't get it to work.

Um... which Phoenix version are you using?

Try a latest nightly just in case.

Hi Svetlin I have installed the nightlies and tested your scene. Unfortunately the problem persists.
It is still losing a lot of fluid. Yes it looks as if its working the first 100frames but that is because it is emitting watter the first 200 frames.

Run the sim to 650 and you will see there is no water left in the container.
I would like to see a proper solution to this as I have other scenes than can't hold the fluid anymore. It did work in prior versions though...

Ah, you are losing liquid? You should have mentioned this - this is a known issue and as soon as I have time, I'll be on it.

              Will keep you posted.

              Cheers!

I thought it was because of the moving vertices. Do you know which prior build is best for holding on to the liquids?
                Thanks

Hey, sorry for the late reply - I'm on the issue - I hope in a couple of days there will be a build you can use. Will keep you posted.

                  Cheers!

Thanks looking forward to that build when it's ready

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I'm still working on this and there already is improvement - I'm running some test scenes and making sure nothing gets broken with the changes.

The changes will take place in 3 steps:
                      - Static geometry should not leak liquid under any circumstances, no matter how thin it is.
                      - Moving geometry should not leak liquid.
                      - Moving geometry should not kill liquid particles.

Most likely the first round of changes won't be in for Sunday's nightly, but they should be there for Monday.

Will update you when there is something in nightlies you can try.

                      Cheers!

Btw, something important to watch out in other situations too - if you have Wetting enabled, check the Consumed Liquid option - if it's more than 0, liquid particles will get deleted on contact with the wetmap.

sounds good I will test it later on this week.
I was not aware of the wettingmap deleting particles. Nice to know thanks

Hi Svetlin. I was wondering if this is fixed in the nightlies by now?
                            Thanks

Hey, it's improved, but not resolved completely. Give it a try and ping me if you have issues when you use your own geometry.
