I've been wondering this too: this way I could take it where I want without nagging about extra authorisations all the time !!! But I guess they will lose sales from people that do not have dongles

what makes you think people without dongles will "buy" any plugin?

          Videos

Did you guys watch the videos? very nice looking plug-in. I'll be putting it on my to-buy list. I have just been bitten to many times by plug-ins that do not work and they have no support. if anybody uses it please share your experience.

Yeah, very impressive tutorials and gallery...plug-in looks so good, but a bit price too steep at the moment...

Yeah, now that they've revised the pricing I took a closer look and I'm pretty impressed. Especially with the variety of grasses they have any the ability to do patchy grass, which is a little more of pain to Photoshop. But still, I simply cannot accept that they want to charge per rendernode. Considering its usefulness, I could see a $300 workstation license cost, but to charge per rendernode when VRay itself doesn't limit rendernodes is absurd. In my opinion the only software that I can understand having that kind of pricing structure are net renderers like Deadline.

                render node

You do get 5 nodes, correct? This is my understanding. Doesn't V-ray limit you to 10 render nodes per license?

Only on DR. Backburner is unlimited.

Exactly. We've got more than a dozen nodes we use for animations, and to license them all would cost about as much as one seat of V-Ray. Doesn't seem equitable at all for a plug-in to me.

I believe it was the same case for Vue.

Seriously. If I compare this plugin to what GroundWiz can do, it should not be more than 99 bucks. But that's the absolute top price.

Ever tried to place 1million+ instances of anything with GroundWiz? Yeah.

What this plug seems to be able of doing looks really great but i couldn't agree more with all of you about the pricing - if grass is all it does then 100$ - 150$ seems more realistic. We have VRayScatter and this could be done with it (true we need to model some strands and texture them) and a lot more.

bottom line is it looks very user friendly but too expensive. hope they will revise the pricing and perhaps provide a demo so that we can really try it before we buy it.

                            Cheers

Plug-in looks good but is much to expensive. At least I want to use all Vray DR machines (10) without any extra rendernode licence. But then again I don´t want to think about another license hassle over the network...
