Autograss plugin

  • I e-mailed them 4 days ago, but I have not received any replies. People can't stay in business if they do not support their products! I payed the $275.00 thinking they would support what they are selling even though the price tag seemed to be high. I was willing to pay because they seemed to be a credible organization... if I don't hear back by the end of the work week I'll be contacting the Canadian BBB.

    • I'm stuck with a non functioning license as well, after a fudged try at updating vray to sp5 and making the jump to max 2011. Tried every påossible conficuration of versions now, and it still can't find the license apparently.
      It has been well over a week since i sent them both an email. No answer.
      I find it preposterous that paying customers are left in the dirt with issues like these, while pirates can go about their day happily. (Not really aiming to derail this into a pirate\legal discussion, I'm simply really pissed off).

      • Well, I`m happy I have not upgraded to Max 2011 and SP5 yet. My configuration and plugins work well, i can do my work and don`t have to solve problems like this.
        From my point of view migrating to 2011 has too many risks. I`ll stay with my 2010 and SP4 as long as possible...

        • Well my main reason for upgrading was that after testing 2011, I found it incredibly more responsive and snappy to work with than 2010, and didn't crash every day. Plus the other features like object painting integrated, and viewport canvas.
          2010 was the absolute worst release by far (been using max since v 1.2).

          • THis plugin is wicked... One time I add it to my existing scene and it takes AGES to render, another time I add it to different scene and its rendering like crazy... Weird... Anyway I'm starting to like it, however I'd love if I could make some complex grass.. a bit of wild bit of natural etc etc... 1 same grass looks a bit too ''clean''.

              • Well, good news, after 2 weeks Lynn finally answered. But not a single word that they are sorry that it took so long or any explanation, just a document that i have to fax them in order to get a new license. But at least i might be able to run the plugin this week.

                • I am also getting some feedback, but the feedback is slow. I e-mail, they reply in a day or two, and the cycle continues. I still do not have a working license.

                  • Good...

                    We tend to post problems and issue so I wanted to let people know what has worked for me.
                    • The upgrade to 3DS MAX Design 2011 went very well and I am loving the new features.
                    • Upgrading to the latest V-Ray was simple and painless
                    • I re-installed my Roof Designer plug-in and I got a reply to an e-mail from the developer in about an hour and I was able to validate my license
                    • Cebas upgrade went smooth
                    • After a couple e-mail exchanges with SolidRocks I got that upgrade to work

                    For me the only thing not working is my Autograss (2 weeks now). I am being told the issue is me and not their license manager. I personally would double/triple think about buying another plug-in from anyone since I have had a bad experience with both VRAYSCATTER and now AUTOGRASS.

                      Yeah, I hear you. This is why I wish Vlado and Chaos would do a scattering function/object like VRS but integral to Vray.

                      ...and a pass manager (Though there are some really good ones for that - both RPM and LPM have been good to me, but they are not always in sync with updates.)

                      and.... The list could go on. It would just be nice if everything worked as well as Vray and had such excellent support. We get spoiled around here.

                      • I can understand free scripts, but if you charge for something you have to support it. I don't care how busy you are... you shouldn't be selling a product that you can't support. I buy my plug-ins... I don't steal them. I do this so the plug-ins work (plus I don't steal). I was doing research on Autograss and I saw cracked versions. I wouldn't download it because it is wrong, plus I wouldn't get any support for it. I am getting angry!

                        • I'm the same. I have spent a rather stupid amount of money on plugins in the last few years and agree they should be supported. It's pretty hit-or-miss all over though, at least in my experience.

                          • Well, i recevied an email yeasterday and at least my workstation license is working now. Lets see how long it takes to get our server license to run. The main problem i am having is that i have to fax them a document and the number they provided seems to be a bit strange. I had to try it it at least 15 times just to get one fax through, when you call this number there is just an answer machine and nothing happens, i guess i was just lucky to get at least on fax through. Today i tried it at least 10 times with no luck...our phone bill will be quite high this month....grrr
                            My advice, stay away from autograss.

                              • Its working here now too - after almost 3 weeks.... The trick was not to fax them the replacement fax, but scan it and send it via email.
