  • VRay 1.45.70 beta build available

Chaos Group is pleased to inform you that the first public beta version of the much anticipated 1.5 version of VRay is available for download for all registered users of VRay
    Advanced:

    http://www.vrayrender.com/login/

Please be sure to check out the VRay help index for information on the authorization procedure, what''s new in this build, documentation of the new features and a basic guide to
    troubleshooting:

    http://www.vrayrender.com/slogin/cu/...beta/index.htm

Keep in mind that this build is still in BETA stage; most of the features that we planned are already implemented and we are looking for any bugs that need to be fixed. If you have
any problems with this build, please send us as much information as possible to vray@chaosgroup.com. Note that distributed rendering is the only missing feature from this build; we
are working hard on finishing this and we hope that it will be available soon. In the meantime, you can use the new capabilities of 3dsmax 6 to render a single frame across several
    machines.

    Best regards,
    The VRay team
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

          initialization error

          Hi,
After installing the 1.45.70 beta I get the error message:

          DLL <C:3dsmax5pluginsVrayNet50.dlu> failed to initialize.

I looked at the VRayHelp150beta/licensingvray.htm and it talks about a license server that needs to be run prior to launching the V-Ray render, but I can't find any such excutable.

My question is, for those waiting for the auth code, did a dialog pop up complaining that it couldn't find a proper license the first time you ran Max after installing the beta?

I'm wondering if it has something to do with how my network is setup. I have a few computers set up on a workgroup. They all obtain their IP's automaticly expect the one that is directly connected to the internet. My Max5 and Vray or installed on a computer that obtains it's IP automatically.

          Any help would be appreciated.
          Bill

            Hello Bill,

The installation puts the VRLServer.exe file in the root folder of
3dsmax. If you run the server and Max/VRay on the same machine, then
enter "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" as the IP address, without the
            quotes.

            Best regards,
            Vlado

For me at least it installed it in the root max directory.

Just search for VRLServer.exe if it's not there.

                Hi Vlado,

Thanks for all the hard work.

I was really looking forward to test driving the 1.45, but I see that only versions for Max 5 and 6 are available. Are there still plans for Max 4.2 support?

You guys took a poll not too long ago here on the boards, and from what I remember there was a notable response.

                  Bill,

in order to get rid of the annoying message of "dll failed to initialize" you should remove the old DR file "vraynet50.dlu" from your plugins directory as it is no longer compatible with the new builds of VRAY. The message is not critical in any way.

                          Beta

Thanks to the hole group, can't wait to give it a test run.

I would like to know if the licensing system will work on a network which use automatic I.P. assignment? (sure hope so) in that cause what should I enter into I.P. slot in VRay?

                          Thanks

I just read about the new licencing system. Am I right that once you install the licence server on machine X, you can never use another machine anymore to act as a licence server? I am wondering what happens if this machine has to be (for whatever reason) replaced

with dynamic IP's use the computer name instead of the IP adress.
