Hi Vlado and Peter,

I hope haven't missed an obvious answer from the threads above but here's my question regarding floating licenses.

I'm running 3 network licenses of Max 6 over a server hence I purchased 3 advanced licenses from you guys. I've installed Max onto 8 machines and the network license makes sure I never use more than 3 licenses. I'm sweet.

With the new build, should I be installing vrayserver on the machine that's hosting my Max licenses and then point all my client machines to that computer? Eg, the computer name for the sever is EvBackup01. I get a auth code for that machine, then I type in the same name as the host for all my other machines?

The V-Ray license server can be hosted by any computer on the network, regardless of whether or not Max and V-Ray are installed on the that computer . The license server will generate it's own authorization request code, you can then ask to have your current licenses combined to authorize the server with the multi-license. Some considerations as to where to host the license server are that the server will always have to be running to use V-Ray and if you will be using more than 10 licenses , then you would probably need to host it on a windows server OS to allow for the extra network connections. This is assuming that the renderer maintains a continual connection with the license server, which I am guessing.

The usual waiting period for authorization is very short. However, I suppose this situation is differernt since everyone is requesting at the same time. I suppose you will get a reply soon though, now that the weekend is over.

I had no issue getting an auth code during the week. Its a bad idea to ask on the weekend, Ive had bad luck with that.

I can't say enough good things about the boys over at Chaos.
Sent my request for a key and got it overnight (I'm in Australia).
Mind you I haven't been into the office to test it yet. But I'm still
one happy camper.

Im not a happy camper. I need a auth for 1.09 and i cannot get one. I have a mobo prob. new mobo, new harddrive reinstalled o.s. I sent an email on the 28th no auth code. Sent another on the 2nd. no reply yet. Now i am alteast a week behine on my project becuase i cannot render!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the software, but this emailing for a auth code sh!t needs to go!
