  • I can't understand why you are getting errors. Have you dropped the cpu:ram ratio to 1:1 and the started to push up the FSB? What memory have you got? I have used 800mhz ddr2 and it has worked a treat. If you have used 667mhz then it will severely restrict your oc ability.

    • Yeah im using ddr2 800mhz - 8 gig of it ... rated for 5,6,6,18 at this speed

or it can do 4,5,5,15 at 667.

I'm not sure what to set in the bios regarding ram speeds and such - they confuse me, dont i want to set the ram to 667 and the push up the bus speed (and there by push up the ram and cpu speed together but with the ram starting underclocked so it wont crash?)

      • Yes that is exactly what I did and I didn't experience any problems.

my memory runs at 724mhz or summin now.

whether it makes any difference, the memory I have is 8gb of patriot ddr2 800mhz with timings of 5-5-5-12.

        • okay i think i have it figured out - i didnt have enough volts going to the cpu to not give errors

i just put it up a notch and its stable now and no temp change either... so im going to work up the speeds and the volts until it starts to get hot.

          3.113ghz 50c under load @1.425v so far

stable for 15mins under prime95 (yeah i know thats not totally tested, ill test over night when i've settled on a speed)

update - 3.240ghz 57c under load @1.525v - getting hot really and its a cold night - I've ordered a top end CPU water block as i feel the standard one isnt such a great design.

i have a question for you - since the ram is running at 720mhz and not 800mhz its made for- would that mean that the ram voltage would be fine at stock levels?

          • The Peltiers modules clearly show condensation, but since my internal circuit is allways at a litle higher temp than the ambient, there is no risk of condensation inside my case.

This is just a test to see if it works ...

I will post the temps unde full load of the quad cores later.

n6, I have to admit thats pretty cool. Fairly fiddly but very cool none the less

Also yeah the image is wrong.. double gamma'd

So results are not valid until we see a proper render

                              • I did a test render with RC3 and V1.5 (now available in support section - requires dongle).

These are the results side by side. There are obviously some speed improvements in 1.5. Chaosgroup rule.
