Tell ya what the G0 Q6600 are amazingly cool. In my warm room (just finished hosting a lan so a few computers and monitors plus people, so my case temp is 37c CPU temp is 30c and core temps vary from 19c-23c.. at stock tho.. but even stil. Super cool.
Thats with a thermalright ultra 120

Gonna push for 3.2-3.6ghz on the weekend.

Are you at CPU stock voltage?

            I can run my quad X3210 @ 3.60Ghz (450x but with 1.48Vcore...
With a full watercooling (CPU, north and southbridge) my CPUs are arround 49°C and the mobo 25°C (21°C ambient)

            • nice !

I was unable to have a stable Pc at 3.6.. 3.55 is the max i could reach.
              3.5 is stable.

              My voltages :
              CPU : 1.4875
              CPU PLL : 1.6
              Dram : 1.85
              FSB termination : 1.3
              Northbridge voltage : 1.9

other voltages are in automatic mode.

no watercooling here, just a advanve turboost box and zalman CNPS9500 for the CPU (as suggests me the vendor )

i'd been a bit disappointed with my previous bench tests on this rig so i thought i'd run the test first thing in the morning on a cool system and the results are way better! previous times had been up around the 1m 45's...

i think it's most likely down to processor cooling (currently passive) so i've got some coolermaster active heatsinks to put in during the week. hopefully there'll be a noticeable improvement when under load for long periods. (animations, biiiig renders etc...)

                • What memory are you running?

A few memory require 2.1v just to run at stock... so maybe you need to up that.

would the power to the ram decrease during load though? as that's when it's been running slower than it should...

If your PSU is too weak, then yes, but in this the case then you would probably have experiment strong reboot and bluescreen

To me it sound like your cpus arent correctly cooled and reach as soon as your hit "render" their thermal trottling limit and so, slow down the frequency.[/url]

hopefully should cool things down a bit!
