          saluto_:
You will need to find another reseller. Or contact chaosgroup with your login details and they might be able to arrange something with another reseller.

          No problem
Let me know how you go, as it might be good info for other Canada vrayers who dont like being screwed.. haha

i got an email 4 days ago saying:

            Dear Customer:

We are ready to ship out your VRay USB "WIBU" dongles. Here's what the dongles look like:

            http://www.wibu.co.kr/images/compBOX_RU.jpg

They are going to be required for VRay 1.5 final, which is projected to ship in the next month. People move, things change... so we want to confirm before we ship anything. We have our records and Chaos Group's records, and if your request does not match either database we may need more information about change of name or other reason why it wouldn't match.

no mention of costs to me. from trinity 3d.
and they CC'ed not BCC'd so i have the email address of everyone else who ordered vray from them

I cant even remember where we bought our licences from...but, no dongles or emails to inform us of whats going on from anyone.

im gonna need a usb hub for all of these fkn dongles :P. everything seems to need a dongle these days.

Regarding the $40 thing...it sounds like maybe they are insuring the mail for the value of the software to me. So if you want the dongle insured when in the mail, i think its resonable. sending something like that in standard uninsured mail is just stupid IMHO...even if it does save you some money, if anything happens to it,...its your problem. Maybe i'm wrong in thinking that the dongle is the licence and therefore is worth the entire value of the software. If you can easily get a replacement without buying vray again then there really isnt much point to insuring the mail?

DA_Elf you may have your dongle and wonder what everyones problem is, but there is obviously a reason why there are a lot of dongle topics, so if u dont like it...you don't have to read them all

Hi, I drafted that text. I should have stated we were covering all costs. I felt like people paid plenty for VRay and we can cover the dollar or two for shipping, no problem. If anyone has troubles getting VRay to work feel free to call or email.

RE using cc for all the emails I sent - I am sorry if that looks amateurish. But, you would be surprised how extreme the spam filtering and blacklisting policies are right now. My goal was to get the emails out and hopefully get people to see and read them. When you BCC a zillion people you can quickly get blacklisted, regardless of your legitimate intents. Same for sending one similar email over and over again to different addresses. I sent emails out to blocks of 10 or 20 people at a time, so I felt that the possible exposure of a handful of addresses was not a big deal. None of our past vray customers sell V|agra.

About half responded. The others will likely be calling us soon, when word of 1.5 final gets out!

                    thanks

Chaos will take care of it. Probably they will request a local VRay dealer to mail it out. If you can't get help that way I'm willing to help take care of it, contact Trinity - sales@trinity3d.com. We handled a bunch of central US customers that originally purchased through Chaos.

You probably know this already, you can put VRLserver.exe on a different machine and float the license. So it doesn't necessarily have to go on your workstation.

I think it is the vendor's responsibility to get the dongle to you. The value of the dongle is under $100 so $40 is almost certainly excessive for a domestic shipment. It's all "handling"... Speaking of high prices, I've just spent a week buying $4 sodas at the San Diego Convention Center
