This looks to me like simple marble/wood/ocean texture with brushed reflections. How could you not do that? o.O

Procedural, for example, are impossible to predict and understand, so I went back to basic bitmap.
it looks promising.
(With this example I already had a procedural creating that wood grain like texture)admin@masteringcgi.com.au

Grant,
Is there an error in the model you are using for rendering your materials?
In the red powder coated material it looks like there is some dark triangles at the top

To everyone interested in Pre-Purchasing.
I will have the first set of 24 materials ready This coming Sunday -17th November
I'll be going with a subscription model so it will cost $120USD for the first 24 materials plus all future materials I create for an entire year.
Included in the pre-purchase will be an introductory tutorial explaining my process and understanding of how to replicate real world materials.
Anyone willing to make a purchase, please send me a PM or leave a response in this thread. Cheers.
(Also remember, I will offer a discount to anyone who offered their material ideas in this thread)

Thanks Donald.
I'll be taking the same simplified approach with the materials as I did with modeling.
Ive just finished the base coat to my "Black metal" shader seen on guns and scifi equipment out of District 9.
Once again, a simple looking shader that has taken months of refinement in the values to get looking right in different lighting conditions.
(3 layers in the blend)

The measurements on the floor grid are accurate so the ball has a radius of about 25cm (Or a large chrome HDR Ball)admin@masteringcgi.com.au
