Sorry! now I get you!
Yes, you are right, even though the video took a long time to make, I want them to all maintain a high quality and are easy to understand! It's a shame his work is only in French...I would love to see it.
I was very tempted some nights to release earlier edits and I'm happy I didn't now because there is always going to be glaring mistakes with what I'm saying and that will reflect in 100 people reproducing the wrong shit.
It's my responsibility to make sure what people are seeing is true and verified however if I do show mistakes, my goal is to fix them in newer updated versions.admin@masteringcgi.com.au

Does anybody have any ideas where I can post updates and news etc?
Probably won't get a forum section here as it's a bought product but I'm up for suggestions.admin@masteringcgi.com.au

a Wordpress site or a Squarespace site would be easy to build; both have private page capabilities.Bobby Parker

Grant, is the left example with a falloff map in the glossiness slot? I don't know, but somehow that is not what I would expect. Did you fiddle around with the curve? I expected it to get pretty close to your examples, but it looks way off. Can't test for myself, as I am out of office until January.

now, if you can have 100's of trees coming out of him, that would be great!

I have a small question though: Instead of creating a blend material with three different glossiness parameters, couldn't we just put a falloff-curve into the glossiness parameter of a single material? Is the effect too different from your approach?

Lots of nice tips in part 2 grant and thanks for the shout out! Like your sneaky method of judging glossiness - it's very portable! I wonder could you do some kind of measuring setup with a web cam and a motor that rotates a light object from 0 - 90 degrees with the web cam snapping pictures? Then you could gradually measure how the reflection spreads from 0 - 90 degrees in terms of the spread of the pixels and replicate it in vray?
