vlado, you say that it works, but with which version of vray are you referring? Probably something everyone doesn't have access to...

I've been too swamped here to really run some hardcore DR tests with VIZ 07 and VRay 1.47.03, but the first quickie seemed to go fine. Just an FYI.

    • from reading between the lines of what vlado's saying, it may require a patch to be released by the nice people at autodesk to get the newer versions of vray to work with viz... although i could be completely and utterly wrong of course!

Check those, see if that helps.
Looks like exposure control to me as well. There should be a dropdown list in the "Environment" dialog, it should read "<no exposure control>." It has been turining on randomly with us, so it has naturally become the first thing we check when the images come out in pastel

        • I was having the same problem.I saved out a preset which included the environment settings in render presets. Now I dont have to remember to turn it off.
Of course you have to turn off exposure control before you save your preset.

          • Is viz2007 still having problems with vray? I do not want to go through another nightmare project again you know. When can we expect the fixed vray version?

            • about missing textures

              2 all :
well i am using viz 2006 with standard materials only ( v ray 1.47.03 is working with it ) BUT i attached some editable poly objects together and after this operation i was unable render some textures in scene. No undo did help me, only no saving scene and reset is solution with ver. 1.47.03.

and sorry for my bad english

                • We all want to use the latest and greatest, but there's nothing wrong with using 1.46.15 with Viz..

yeah like.. try telling that to my boss It says vray for viz and it is not working properly with viz and no one is giving this issue priority. You do not care about It, but allot of us are not happy with this. Left beside the losses we have made by going through all this shit.

                    • So Im a newish user of Viz and brand new user of Vray.
                      I'm on Viz 2007 and Vray 1.47.03.

I too started having the map issue, and found some weird quirks after reading thru this thread:

(The following is regarding the Stone map on the base of the house)
When I render this scene in 320 res, it has no trouble. I did this multiple times.

But, trying it in 640, no luck:

But then I notice that the map does seem to be there until the second pass (just using Low preset for IR):

So then I turn off "show calc phase" like someone mentioned previously; first render:

You can see that it almost made it, except for that small portion by the entry stairs.

Then, a second try, same exact settings with no calc phase shown:

                      Bingo, it works!

So, I guess shut off calc phase and try multiple times for now if you're still in 1.47.03. I will have to try some other scenes and variables to see if this is the workaround.

                      • hmmm... still not really predictable enough to use in production though.

it may be fine to render something out a few times if it only takes a couple of minutes - but no good if it's a 3200x2400 for print and takes 2hrs to render each 'try'...

                        • VRay is production ready and a lot of people are using it. If there is really a specific feature that 1.47.xx has that 1.46.xx does not then speak to Vlado and the other from Chaos.

I have never had any issues with 1.46.15 and Viz2006 or 2007. If you're making losses because you're using 1.47 then use 1.46. This 'missing bitmap" problem has been around and discussed for long enough. It's a sad excuse to use if you're losing money.

As for "You do not care about It, but allot of us are not happy with this. Left beside the losses we have made by going through all this shit." If you don't like being on the cutting edge where things are being developed get off. If I knew programming I'd be looking for a fix.

You know what the problem is and you know what the solution is.

                          • all i was getting at is that the fix geoffc suggested is not reliable enough to use in a production environment - not that people shouldn't use 1.46 in production

i am currently using 1.46 and viz2007 with no issues as are plenty of others.

i just hope it's not this issue that's delaying the release of 1.5...

Regardless, I have emailed chaosgroup to get the older version to use.

Point being, I dont think this was fixed in 2007.

                              • Hi folks, I'm a newbie to VRay advanced but if anyone is interested I installed Vray version 1.47.03 to VIZ 2007 on Monday and everything seemed to be working fine. Then this morning i was playing around doing some test renders and some of my textures started disapearing in some buckets, seemingly randomly.

I contacted the Support group and they have sent me version 1.46.15 and a link to this thread. I haven't installed yet but i presume will work. excellent customer support by the by!

Whilst reading this thread for the last 4 hours i have been constantly test rendering and haven't had a single bitmap error (with show calc phase on or off) so who knows whats going on. I'm going to continue and bash on with 1.47.03 and see what happens but thought you all might like to know an update using VIZ 2007 with 1.47.03
