I noticed that the default Vray memory was set to 400mb. I changed that to 4000mb. Then it worked on the first try! Wohooo. Others with the same problem should check their memory settings on the Vray rollout...

The time estimate is often wrong for these last few buckets so don't pay too much attention to it. From what I can see that part is quite noisy so it will require some time to cleanup. To check if your buckets are really stuck or just taking a long time, look at the task manager for your local machine and the render slave. If there is at least one core that does something, then the case is of these buckets simply being slow to render. To some extent you can control the sampling of such buckets with very bright noisy parts using the color mapping options (see this post here: http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...579#post543579)
Generally speaking, almost all cases of "stuck" buckets that were reported, the buckets were simply taking a long time to complete, for various reasons (noise, procedural textures, etc)

got another case :-///
happens when using DR,
Frame is rendered in 18 minutes but the last bucket is hanging for like another 30 minutes and counting!!!! this happens on a place with a simple shader.
We have to use the scene for an animation and cannot afford such problem.
Doesnt happen when not using DR.
Vlado can i send you the scene for your inspection?
Thnk you
BestMartin

I currently have a scene, that has stuck buckets. It's a pretty simple scene, but 16 buckets have been sitting there all weekend and they have 38hrs remaining. And, I can't cancel the render, either.Last edited by glorybound; 09-04-2012, 06:46 AM.Bobby Parker

Maybe check the memory being used? I have had issues where I forgot to up the Dynamic memory limit in the Vray Settings. Just an idea. DR is one finicky thing! Nothing worse than seeing a huge render choke on the last few buckets.- Dual 3.47 ghz Hex Core Xeon CPUs; 96GB Ram; SSD Drive; 3dsMax 2020; V-Ray; Sketchup 2020

I have been leaving my memory at 0 auto, which should default to everything available.Originally posted by windrockwater View PostMaybe check the memory being used? Bobby, just cancel the render, save your layers and render the bits with DR turned off just to get away with this at this point...its the only way i guess for nowMartin

it took about 15 minutes to cancel. I removed my Fresnel reflections, which solved the issue. After removing the Fresnel reflections the scene rendered in 2hrs.
