Oxford, which is apparently too short to use as a response on this forum!

tricky, if u can by any chance re-run a test with ur settings just changing the adp amount in the dmc sampler rollout to 0.85?
i seem to skip this when switcheing from bruteforce to irmap wich usually leads to these kind of inconsistences in the gi

if you global subs are set to 0.01 to make everything 1, this will also mean you hemispherical subdivs are 1.
Set hemi's to 1000 (1000x0.01=10) and see if that helps. But i think it would be better to just reset Vray and stick with default IR settings... high then -5 / -1 works well. Global subs at 1.

Is that correct? I guess you are very right there!!!! I never thought about that. I'd used a hybrid of some training video (cpnicholls???) but he always used bruteforce. I switched to Irmap for 'speed' purposes, but as you say, in doing that, I am probably multiplying the subdivs to 1 as well!

@tricky, i ended up trying your method with the global subdiv set to 0,01 as well but this ended up with blotches. reseting to 1 gives better result but slower to calculate. setting halfways sounds like a good choice as well

Yes, I think Steve Ellis in his earlier posting hit the nail on the head with the problem. I was basically being thick and stoopid!

But as far as im concerned there is nothing special here, just stable good settings.

indeed. Looking at those settings, those are just good reliable settings. Pretty much what I use. The whole 'universal' settings seems wonky to me.

Agreed, don't try to fix something when it isn't broken in the first place... my theory ..

Natty, do you these settings for animated interiors ? If so, how well does it work (quality vs rendertime) ?
