We have noticed that the issue does not persist with SP1.
Would you please check if you have SP1 installed and if not to install it, run the same tests and notify is if the issue is still there?

Maybe you're just too much in a hurry? With small projects, you can click click click and go nuts and the pc (and max can keep up).
I've found for years already, the larger the scene (when it hits like 30mil polys) then you have to be patient with max, otherwise you will get these hanging issues between simple operations.
No, this is a simple scene with a physical camera. If I try to copy the camera, MAX freezes and I have to crash MAX. I am copying by using the shift key and dragging. It only happens on the camera. After I crash MAX and come back in, it'll work, but If I try again, it'll crash again.

Yes thats weird. Could you do 2 tests maybe (just for testing)
1) Group the camera and target - then copy with shift
OR
2) Switch "Targeted" OFF - then copy with shift
