Thanks for the insight! How do you deal with the problem of unsupported procedurals in RT GPU? For me that is still quite a drawback, even though they support noise since the latest release. But that is not enough for me.

The problem with the procedurals was that they do not work as bump maps. In the latest release we support noise for bump maping in Max. In Maya, all supported procedurals will work for bump mapping.
We don't support stuff like bercon maps, but color corrections, mix, mask, falloff and many others are working fine. Here is a list of what is supported. Many of the non supported are automatically baked and this sometimes works as well.

Can anyone tell us if we get regular VRAY 3.4 how can we render at 1 min per frame with shadows, clouds, atmospheric, DOF and motion blur etc 1080P for animation. How many CPUs will we need to buy? has anyone tried cloud rendering rebusfarm etc Is it cheap?

white floor with one small red teapot in the middle and a slow moving cam with a clear blue sky with 1 cloud on top left?

Sure, 10 seconds on a 5 year 2 core cpu.

It all depends on your work mate, show us what you need to do, you are way to vague.

Yes, a lot of people use Rebusfarm and they seems to be happy

yeh you will need a few cans of redbull to get it down to 1 min

i would be interested to see which renderer can do that on a typical scene, and which machine it would need to run on.

on a related note.. do you not think you could be a teensy weensy bit more specific? you are basically asking "how long is a piece of string"

on another related note, have you considered trying the demo rather than asking random questions on the forum?

We decided Vray is the best option on the market at the moment and we sticked with it for almost 2 years.

In terms of quality, all kernels are the same, at least in terms of core programming. So, technically, you are able to get the same results.
The difference comes in tonemapping and LUTs where different render engines have their own approaches... and that's really a subjective preference. Some people might like Octane LUTs more, while some people prefer Vray.

Now, in terms of settings, Octane is much more simplistic, but limits you at the same time.
Vray has a lot more options which might seem confusing for someone who is mostly concerned only about the artistic side. But at the same time, all those extra settings allows you more freedom to optimize your settings for a better quality / time ratio.
For me, I had to play a bit to get the right settings in Vray, but now that I'm happy with those settings, I saved them as a render preset and I use it for all my scenes. No more hassle. But I do agree that Vray can benefit from more simplification.

In terms of rendering time... now that's where Vray shines.
                I can only say:
                - 1 hour for a 3k render
                - 1.5 hours for a 5k render (or 2 hours if you want to remove all noise)
                on 4 Titan x
And that's for interiors. Exteriors are rendering in an instant)

                And that's without the denoiser.
Denoiser works great as well with the right settings, we use it 90% of the times now.

And here's a selection of our renders (you need an account on flicker): https://flic.kr/s/aHskz6qszS
Very interesting, thanks a lot for your evaluation of V-Ray GPU. Hmmm, maybe I have to play a bit more with it on 3.4. Or maybe a lot more!

You clamp, like octane, use dead simple and ugly brfds, like octane, and you render in a minute a frame. Yet if history serves any purpose, you'd then be back here complaining of inaccurate lighting, GI not reaching the places you would want it to, and so on.
Vague bitching will only ever beget you vague answers, with varying degrees of unease. Be more specific, we may help then.

Geesh... stop complaining and buy Octane if you want Octane features.

Some of you got personally mad because I had questions about vray even using bad language. I know you love vray but we never used it so we want to know how fast it is etc. Thanks for help community

Often, we get people coming over telling us how much better another render engine is, so that's why people are a little touchy on the subject. I am sure you were just being misunderstood.
